Personally I would go:&#xD;&#xA;10w &#xD;&#xA;20pl&#xD;&#xA;40 show&#xD;&#xA;so if your horse hits the board, you got a betterchance of making a profit. &#xD;&#xA;For instance if your horse finishes 3rd and pays $4.00&#xD;&#xA;10 w/p/s = win $20 but you are (-10)&#xD;&#xA;10w 20pl 40 show = win $80 so you are (&#x2B;20)

It all depends what kinds of races you are betting and the odds on the horses you are playing. If you are a taking chalk in small fields, betting more to show will most likely land you 5 or 10 cents on the dollar. Not worth the risk in any horse race IMO. If you like to bet longshots in large fields, absolutely bet more to place/show than to win.
