Saturday @ GP

We will probably have showers off/on tomorrow but I’m pretty sure races will stay on the turf since it’s been so dry here. The card looks great but not sure if I’ll go to GP or stay home & play tomorrow.

R1, I expect #6 Best Act to get played heavily with the Castellano/Brown combo but I like the chances on #1 Top Business for a red-hot trainer Bezaria winning @ 36%. He goes for the 1^st time with this barn but he likes to run 3^rd (6 times out of 17 starts). Big jock change from Paco to Jara. #8 Wide Receiver will get action as well with Ramon coming to town to Mucho Macho Man & a couple for Motion. Interesting race…

R2, Johnny V got dumped as the favorite in # 1 Mordi’s Miracle’s last race. Goes from 6f to 7.5F but this in essence is really his 1^st race. Pletch has another in this race…#8 Colonial Strike out of Smart Strike; no way this one goes off @ 6-1. #9 Current Design is a firster out of Tiznow for Chad Brown. A Chad Brown DD looks attractive. #2 Golden Ticket moves back to dirt for Cruz/McPeek & cuts back from 1 1/16^th.

R3, I saw # 2 Uptowncharlybrown go up against Adios Charlie (who is in the 400k feature) opening week. Trainer Colletti had high hopes for this one going into that race but his race was a dud @ 2-1. Colletti moved him to grass in his last; PP shows he closed in that race but I’m not sure he didn’t just pass tired horses. Mott has a live one in # Newsdad with Julien but this is the type of closer that Julien hasn’t handled too well during the meet. He’ll be the chalk. I’m looking closer @ # 7 Sierra Alpha who loves going long & should like this 1 7/16 mile. Jock change to Lezcano is a positive; he’s won on him twice before & I like the 100 Beyer in his last. ML is 5-1

R4, I like the way #2 Namaskara won his last with a big move with the jock change to Rose. This one has been bet in all 3 races & I like his ML 10-1 for trainer Motion. I know he’s moving up but I think he fits here. This could be a Motion exacta.

R5, undefeated #4 Awesome Feather has won all 8 by a combine 31 lengths. I’ll just enjoy watching this one.

R6, I think # 6 Musical Romance gets beat here. I know she won the BC Sprint but that was a perfect storm scenario. Trainer Kaplan caught lightning in a bottle that day & he’s 1 for 33 at the GP meet & MR is 0 for 4 @ GP. I’m more intrigued by a shipper #7 Beat the Blues for Mena/Calhoun. She’s 11 of 12 ITM & has won 8 @ this 6F distance. Win Play & a ex box with #5 Pomeroy’s Pistol. A CYA tri key of 2/567 as well.

R7, #7 Apriority ran a huge race in his last after almost going down leaving the gate & going from last to first to gain a 104 Beyer. I saw the race & have to believe it took something out of him. So I’m jumping on #1 Royal Currier shipping in from Parx for trainer Farro who is a sharpie. This one is 10 for 10  ITM& has won 5 at this distance. Huge jock upgrade from Stewart Elliot to Ramon. I expect # 2 Soaring Stocks to run big as well, so that’s my box.

R8, love #5 Romacaca in this one but she’s been away 5 mths. I can’t believe Canani didn’t get a race under her belt before this race. She’s been working well with a couple of bullets, loves the GP grass winning 4 of 7 but I’m concerned she’s going to come up a little short @ this 1 1/8 distance. OK, so Johnny V wins 4 in a row on #4 Unbridled Humor out of Distorted Humor then runs 5^th on her, loses the mount to Ramon who wins on her, then JV gets the mount back & runs 2^nd & loses the mount again to Ramon who runs 4^th with her last time out. WTF?  Owners Live Oak Plantation are a lot like Calabrese in the sense he’ll dump your ass if don’t get him to the winner’s circle. So Johnny V ends up on #8 Hooh Why for a trainer I know absolutely nothing about…..Shirley K drake-Girten. Huh? Ran a good 2^nd in her last @ 40-1. Johnny V gets on her & so am I. WP play & a Ex/tri box of 458.

R9, #5 Little Mike will play catch me if you can but he couldn’t get the 1 1/8 distance in his only try when he tired badly & losing to # 10 Teaks North. #3 Bad Debt won twice here last year with Solis & Lezcano riding but trainer Trombetta decides to put Carmouche up on him because he’s won twice on him as well. Tough race….maybe a 135?

R10, have to go with #4 Adios Charlie for a couple of reasons…he was a monster in his last race which I saw, he’s 2 for 2 @ GP, Javier for Hough who is one of my favorite trainers & I think Mucho Macho Man will get quite a bit of action. Win play, DD wheel & a Javier Castellano DD 3/9

R11, DD 1/1; 2/3; 4/8…this may not make sense to you but I’m sure you can figure out my hunch doubles. If #14 Let Th Kitten Purr scratches into the race, I like his chances with Elvis riding.

The sun is shining but I see clouds to the east. Scratches of Mordi's Miracle & Golden Ticket in the 2nd were surprising to see this morning. But I was glad to see #14 Let Th Kitten Purr scratched into the finale. Only problem is he'll get hammered at the window.

Nice write up Midnight. I have expressed my opinion on Contreras before but Exeter Road in the first faced much tougher up north than he is in the first so I will actually bet Contreras.GL.

ram..I think you'll get better than 5-2 as the late money comes on Best Act. BOL to us........

Typical nice ride by Jeremy Rose on #2 Namaskara staying out of trouble, saving ground down around the rail & then letting the reigns out & riding this baby like he stole him. Kind of surprised to see him bet down from 10-1 to 5-1 but I'll take $13.20/$5.80....

Julien ran 2nd on the chalk but he's on some live ones today.
