UCONN,
is the better team in the big east, i don't care if Wiggins and Dyson
are out. The Huskies have a deep bench and have the talent to over
come this loss as you saw the other night when they won @ Indiana.
Thabeet is miles better than he was last year and that has really
benefited Adrien as he has returned to being that key X-factor that he
was when Boone, and Armstrong were there. Sure UCONN lost @home against
Providence, but besides that one minor hickup they have been a tough
team to beat home/away within the big east. CT huge underdogs against
Georgetown on the road had that game won until a threepointer by
HIBBARD none the less won it at the buzzer, and in their last 3 games
they beat two ranked teams in Marquette and Indiana.
Not that
it matters but just to show that UCONN is the better team, they have
beat two Big-east teams in Seton Hall and cincinatti, while Louisville
lost to both.

really want to know how others feel, I know this LOUISVILLE team was supposed to be great this year, and they have not lived up to expectations at all. I have watched probably 5 UCONN games after watching them all last year struggle with Thabeet looking lost, I think they are a solid team this year. With or without wiggins/dyson I think they win here.

I know alot of the Big East because i follow Pitt alot and i have the privledges of watching alot of Big East games. Uconn and Louisville are both GREAT basektball teams. Louisville was Plaugued by injuries early. BAsically their whole team was depleted and had a rough go early. Since getting the whole team back, they are a force to be recconed with. They were able to over come a 10+ pt decifit to seton hall at seton and won by 10 at seton. thats a 20 pt swing in a matter of 5-6 mins. Louisville can score at will..
And uconn, They recently have been gettin hit my injuries but They are coached by one of the best college coaches of all time. They have a deep bench with great players. Recently, What ever the home team in the Big East would win but this weekend it has proved that no one safe is in the Big East.
Both these teams have size and can shoot the ball..
I have no clue what this line will be but i predicitng louisville at least a 2.5 dawg... if u conn is a dawg at home i'll take louisville. it all matters on the spread

may I also add that this game is @ gampell pavillion giving it more of an oncampus feeling that UCONN doesnt get when they play @ hartford civic center.

Louisville is the better "whole" team, the longer they all stay healthy, the better they will be. If you are handicapping this game, you MUST throw out the Seton Hall game, that game was an anomoly. That is not the UL team that you will see tonight. Hazell (from Seton Hall) was stepping across half court and pulling and hitting everything, they scored 92 points against them while everyone else usually scores in the 60's.
UConn's depth will be tested with the suspensions, UL plays a totally different style of ball than IU. UL can go 11 deep (qaulity at that) and they will be up in UConns grill the whole, the whole time. UConn will get tired with the early turn around.
I predict a win by UL but not by much, just looking forward to watching a great game tonight!

This could be a letdown spot for Uconn. I've been a fan for years and I can't remember a game where they played with such a high level of defensive intensity. A.J. Price vomited from exhaustion in the locker room after the game. I think they will be a very tired team tonight.
Uconn was able to win the Indiana game by stopping Indiana's backcourt and preventing Indiana from getting second chance opportunities. It will be harder to do tonight against Louisville. Thabeet is a much improved player but Character owned him last year.
Against Indiana, Uconn struggled at times in their half court offense. I expect a similar low scoring game today and I think the best play is under 139.5.

I was ready to jump all over UCONN tonight but it looks as if Vegas is just begging for that. Only at -1 on your home floor??? I know the suspensions play a role but after Saturday's game this should be at least 4 or 5. GL fellas.

I believe Louisville is the play here and not only because of the injuries. The Cardinals were an unanimous Top 3 pick in the Big East preseason polls and now that they have all their personal back and healthy, they seem ready to make a good run in conf' play. I agree Thabeet is miles better than last year, but Palacios, Padgett and Caracter add depth to the Cards' frontcourt.
GL whatever the play anyway

I'm gonna be on Uconn -2, they are playing great ball and have a ton of confidence. They will bounce back from the awful year they had. Was a big Uconn hater earlier in the season but after the game against the Hoosiers it is a solid play for the home team.

I agree, Tessel, UCONN just has more confidence right now. As for Price throwing up I just have to laugh. I played college sports if you are not rested enough on one days rest to get pumped up to play a home game than I don't know what to say.....
if that is your basis on betting louisville oh, UCONN is not rested price threw up i dont know what to say.

the game is not at Gampel, it is at the XL Center (Hartford Civic Center)
Yes it is NOT AT GAMPEL.
I believe Louisville wins tonight. They have been struggling all year with injuries and not having a full squad. Now they have everyone back and are starting to play terrific basketball. I think UConn will struggle tonight and come up short.

I'm a Louisville homer, but they are possibly the deepest team in the country. They are getting about 40 points from there 4-5 positions (Padgett, Caracter, Palacios (starting to look good), and Clark). Terrance Williams fills the stat sheet (unfortunately with turnovers as well), Jerry Smith is a lockdown defender and is getting hot from deep again. I only wish Edgar Sosa would start playing better, but Andre Mcgee has been playing well of late. Both are excellent shooters. Preston Knowles has been playing well off the bench, as does Terrance Farley at times. This team is deep and talented, and are finally getting some chemistry going. UCONN is tough on the inside, but Louisville can hang, if not more. Louisville's D should be the difference in this one. Pitino has the luxury of playing multiple types of defense, and is lucky to have a team that complement each style. UCONN may see a lot of zone tonight. Don't overlook the situation here either. UCONN is coming home after two emotional road victories. Dyson and Wiggins are suspended, severely weakening their backcourt. Louisville does not own any signature wins this year (beat UK when they were down), but this is their first real opportunity other than the loss to BYU which killed the chances of a UNC game. I see them coming out and beating UCONN tonight just like they did 2x last year . Same teams out there (minus Wiggins/Dyson) as last year. Louisville is more talented, deeper, and has the situational edge. Additionally, Pitino will severely outcoach Calhoun.

Wow, a lot of support for the Cards. Wish I had the same optimism. Sure Seton Hall shot really well when they beat us, we played awful defense and on offense we were very careless during the 2nd half. That game was at full strength too. Sure the Cards are talented but also really stupid at times. I don't have a good feeling about this one.
big river, I would also say that the win against Marquette was close to a signature win and the win vs West Virginia was much better than anyone cares to believe.

I agree with most of your post except the bold. For you to claim he will outcoach Calhoun severely is ludicrous. Calhoun is one of the best college coaches. Many have already seen him outcoach Coach K throughout his career on route to the 2 national championships. IF not for his coaching decision to keep Okafor out for the whole 1st half against Duke in 2004; there would be no 2nd national championship. Or even take 1999 when the whole World except for the state of Connecticut gave UConn a chance in that title game. Calhoun has shown time in and out to be one of the best coaches given the situation.
I am not taking anything away from Pitino as he has done a wonderful job at ever University but that last comment is unwarranted. As you stated Louisville is the better team and deeper. How can Calhoun be outcoached severely if he is already at a clear disadvantage: personnel wise and situational wise... If anything it will be Calhoun's coaching that will put the team in a position to have a chance to win the game today even though I do not believe UConn will get it done tonight.

This game is going to come down to who wins the inside battle. UConn has dominated their past 3 games inside, and despite the loss of Wiggins and Dyson they are still dangeorus. 6-0 on my last 6 posted UConn plays, and this is a no play for me.
