after last night's unbelievable win with ALA. Just checking my last few NCAA actual "writeups," and I've gone a sterling 8-1-1. We know that's not going to last forever. Kinda' like a couple of winning streaks tonight-
UNC travels to Maryland to attempt to win their 6th game in a row. They also own a win over the Terps on Jan. 19 by 10 as a 5.5 pt. fav'. The Terps are 16-2 @ home, including a recent win over Duke. The Terps have size, led by 7'1" Alex Len, and that's going to cause alot of problems for UNC, who doesn't. Even their guards are big. They actually do something with all that size too. They are the top rebounding team in the conference and one of the best in the whole country. They're only allowing teams to shoot 37.7% against them, 10th best in the country, and only allow 63 ppg.
And that will cause problems for the Tar Heels, who rely on the outside shot and the 3. They were lights out @ home last game vs. FSU. Ever heard the term "shot your wad?" Carolina may have. It's tough to shoot good every game which is really what Carolina must do to win. If they don't, I just don't know how they will score effectively and consistently in the low post. Mcadoo, while playing better with the "small lineup" is still to me a disappointment, and the MD "D" will exploit his shooting weakness.
The home team checks in @ 16-5 ATS last 21. Never easy to pick against a team you like and have had the fortune to see on many occasions, but tonight, it's the-
TERPS +1
No long writeup, time constraints, but the "ghosts of 1985", Coach Massimino, Ed Pinckney, and co. beat GTOWN again.
'NOVA -1
In the SEC, the Gators, 2-2 last 4, 0-4 ats as well, take on Vandy and their 3 game winning streak in Gainesville. The Gators also have KEN on deck, hey, it's still KEN. Honestly, this is just a "gut" play, Vandy did beat them the last time these 2 met, last year, but I feel a defensive lockdown coming tonight, and with that, a Gators blowout, kinda' like what they were doing to everyone earlier this season. The Gators also ride the momentum from the last game in a come from behind win over ALA, winning eventually by 12. They have to feel real good about how they played down the stretch and I believe they will come out of the gate with that same intensity. Uncle Mo' carries and,
Tonight they feast-
GATORS -19
As always good luck to all!
