Detroit's efficiency this year compared to past is far and above at the moment..Ranking top 20 in tempo and # 16 in Adj. Efficiency. I'm using data from Coach McAllum's tenure as it's relevant. The defense was ranked anywhere from 71 to 167 and this year comes in at 163. So they are much better offensively, below average defensively and rank top 20 in tempo.
Expected possessions should be in 70-75 range..I'm concerned that Youngstown State will have a laydown offensively after putting up 80 on Valparaiso. However, I think the demolishing at home will have this one going back and forth. This is Slocum's best team and his 2nd best offensive team based on statistics. Youngstown State also ranks in top 50 in adjusted tempo.
The potential for an over is there even with the oddsmakers opening it at 154. At lines at 149 or above they are 2-2 on the total so far this year. One scoring drought can kill this over. Lets see if these two teams can throw up some points. 75 or better at half would be nice to see.
