Personally I think there is validity behind the rationalization that is perception versus reality. When a team gets ranked in the top 25, I feel like it adds 1.5 to 2.5 points to their spread. Of course I would still be mindful of how much "hype" "buzz" or whatever you want to call the reason to play a top 25 team versus their respective opponent. As in the case of a Big 10 home team. I don't care what a team is ranked if you bet on the road squad in the Big 10, you know you are playing with fire. Further, I think the expectation of a team's top 25 status plays a factor as well as the motivation of the unranked team to knock off that top 25 team plays a role (Morehead St vs Murray St). My take is not to play it like a system (play all games that qualify) however, given the criteria there are many good opportunities to play the "less popular" "less publicly played" unranked team. Identify the games and do further research to see if you are getting them in a good spot. Completely my humble opinion. Best of luck.
