We've arrived in the next to the final chapter in what has been a disaster of a season for my Terps. Two of the three seniors have been total disappointments as has junior Mosley. We had a 1st Team All-ACC pick in JWill and a 1st Team ACC Rookie in Stogs. This team has talent but the leadership has bene virtually non-existent, Gary's coching, especially the last few games has sucked and there is no fire with this team. NIT bound and little desire sucks for the program I love. Do I think they have the talent to make a run to the ACC Final, then rip my heart out by getting oh so close? Sure. Will they? Not likely. In fact, I worry about the very first game.
NCSU has had a very similar season to the Terps. They have talent and just can't put it all together on a consistent basis. They played the Terps very well in Comcast, only to let the Terps go on a run late to lose by 7. The Pack has a couple of guys that give the Terps trouble. Tracy Smith is not JWill but he holds his own. CJ Leslie is a stud and is a real match-up problem for us. They have some talent in young guards as do the Terps. The first match-up was an open, running type game that saw both teams shoot well and the Terps get to the FT line a ton (and make a bunch). Both teams took care of the ball pretty well in that game.
I think this game will be up and down too as it is in prime time and both teams are most comfortable getting up and down. I think the Terps will play man almost exclusively and press some too. Gary's zone is average at best so look for the Terps to play aggressive man ad switch guys on and off of CJ Leslie. This thing should be high scoring. For now, I am only goig to play the over as I am unsure on a side. Here are my thoughts on why a side is so hard to pick:
1) Motivation: both teams have little to play for and the Terps looked like they've thrown in the towel against Miami and Uva, neither of which are very good teams. If NCSU wants to win, the Terps MIGHT let them.
2) If no defense is played, both teams will score and keep it close. Lean NCSU because of this.
3) Terps really haven't beaten anyone in the ACC other than FSU by many points of late. NCSU hasn't won much either. Who knows who has it in them to cover.
4) Gary doesn't seem like he has a finger on this team's pulse. I don't think he knows what to do with them and he doesn't look real concerned with figuring it out. I think he is looking forward to the talent coming in next season and sees this as a "WTF can I do with this group." NCSU has no coach all the time so I don't see either wowing anyone tomorrow.
Let's play the over 146.5 for now. May add a side later. Leaning NCSU right now.

Thanks for the writeup , I too am a diehard Teprs fan and they have been tough to watch this year (Putting it nicely), with that being said I think GW has completely given up on his seniors minus Dino. Bowie and Tucker have been miserable PERIOD. I saw Parker get some burn couple of games ago and think that pretty much summed it up. I think they have the talent to compete its a matter of a consistant outside scorer. If they can get that it should open up the inside for J Will. Im hoping Huak steps his game up he can stroke it from the arc ...regaurdless I will be hoping for another shot at Puke on Friday ...LETS GO TERPS!!! Gotta love PeShon Howard's game ...seems to have that Vasquez bravado to him !

Mikey J- I too will always love these Terps! Ready to move on to better days. Parker and Weijs (sp?) getting virtually no run and Hawk getting some minutes but not enough for what I think he brings to the table is regrettable.

I can't wait for the tourney either. It is so hard for me emotionally to take the other side...I'd rather play the total than take State.
I mean there are two scenarios that can happen. Either they keep playing uninspired they way they did against UVA and Miami and just embarrass themselves.
Or they are so pissed of from the way they have been playing and they regroup. Play smart, get JWill involved, don't force silly turnovers, and hit foul shots. Sounds simple, and I know it's easier said than done. But come on boys its NC State here!!!
I hope the latter is true, and it would be nice to live to play another day in this tournament. BOL I'll more than likely be with you on the over haven't decided yet.

Wish I did Mikey. No, I live on an island off the coast of Georgia....not too bad a zip code but days like today I wish I was much closer to the action. I'll try to swing in next time I am up visiting family.
