Saturday College Basketball Picks

Not really a regular poster, thought I would give it a shot.  I follow college basketball a lot, so I figured why not. Picks are in bold.....

George Mason +1 @ James Madison: G Mason has owned this series over the last 10 games (7-3 ATS and 8-2 SU)
G Mason 73 - 68

Ohio St -2 @ ILLINOIS: again here, Ohio St has an edge in this series over the last 10 games (6-4 ATS and 8-2 SU).  Also, Ohio St is a better basketball team, and with Sullinger dominating down low should take this road victory
Ohio St 72 - 64

Nova @ Syracuse -5: kinda going against the previous two games here, since Nova has an edge this series over the last 10 games (6-4 ATS and 7-3 SU), but I think Syracuse's length on defense and size down low will prove to be too much for the pesky Cats in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse 75 - 68

Colorado -3.5 @ Oklahoma: Colorado has the edge in this series over the last 10 games ATS (6-4) but is behind SU (4-6), but I like the Buffs in this spot. They have played over their last 10 games winning (8-2 SU), but are only (3-3 ATS). However, they have beat some very quality teams, and Oklahoma has really been struggling this year.  Oklahoma did play well against Tech last game, but they are not nearly the type of team we have some from them over the last few years.  Colorado has a very talented group spearheaded by Alec Burks, and I look for them to travel to Norman and take care of business.
Colorado 78 - 71

Tennessee +7 @ Connecticut: Uconn has a very young but talented team, and they came up with a big win against Nova earlier this week and at Texas 2 weeks ago.  However, Tennessee has a knack for showing up in Big games.  Yes, the Vols have had their struggles this year, but when push comes to shove, they have the talent to play with almost anyone they face, (I.E. Beating Pitt convincingly in what was essentially a home game for the Panthers).  I am not saying Tennessee wins here, but I would not be shocked if they did, and I certainly think they can and will give the Huskies all they want and more.

Kansas St @ Texas A&M -5: A&M was embarrassed by Texas and will look to take it out on the reeling Wildcats

Temple +1 @ Xavier: Juan Fernandez appears to be getting healthier, should be a good though

I may post some of the later games after a while if I get some more enthusiasm, but this is all I got for now.

Saw Xavier at Bona on Wed. and Holloway started out as a huge disappointment.  He looked disinterested in playing.  Bona was up 5 at the half.  Holloway came out and lit the joint up with 22 and Bona was toast.  So my point is if Holloway wants to play, he's in a different class and he could present some big problems for Temple.

Yeah I totally feel you, Holloway is a very good player and absolutely is capable of giving Temple problems, however, I am not sure they matchup well with Temple either.  LaVoy Allen is a miserable matchup to deal with, even for teams with a mobile big man. McClean, who is mobile and a good defender, is probably big enough to stay with Allen.  But if he gets in foul trouble, which he is prone to do, they really dont have anyone else to guard him.

Not saying it will be an easy win for Temple, and obviously it is projected to be a good game with the line and all.  I expect a hard fought game, but I think Temple my just be bit much for Xavier down low, but we shall see.

Uh-oh.....NOVA IS HOTT!!!!!

2-2 so far.....

Hats off to Nova and UVA....both teams shot the lights out....Nova could not have executed their game plan any better, and UVA shot about 60% from behind the 3 point line...

Ohio St certainly made this one more interesting than i would have liked, but pulled it out.

Well.....looks like I did better on the games I did not give an in depth analysis.....

Tennessee looked great in the first half, but absolutely fell apart in the 2nd half.  Credit goes to Uconn though, they were just tougher down the stretch.

Colorado looked like the Colorado we have grown accustomed to seeing in previous years.....

OLE MISS pounded LSU

Hofstra survived a tight one

Drexel whooped N Eastern as expected.....

Some more games to think about

Louisville -5 @ Providence:  Louisville is dealing with a ton of injuries right now, but somehow Pitino still manages to find ways to win these games.  Few teams could do this, but they seem to find the way.  Providence does play well at home, but I suspect Louisville will be too much for them to handle.  Providence plays NO defense, and I think the Cardinals will simply outscore them.
Louisville 88 - 76

Kentucky @ South Carolina +8:  This is a tough game, because I do think Kentucky will come out hungry in this one after a tough loss to Alabama early this week.  And no one can question the young talent they have......But the Cocks have been playing some really good ball of late under Darren Horn, especially at home.  Cocks have beaten some good teams over the last few, (Vandy, Florida and Arkansas). For me, this one is a bit much for the Cats to lay on the road to a pretty hot team, especially with the youth Kentucky have.  Would not be at all shocked if the Cocks took this one SU, but to be safe, take your points.
Kentucky 72 - 68

Alabama @ Auburn +11: I am SURE I will live to regret this, but I think 'Bama may be over valued here.  Don't get me wrong, they are a pretty decent team, but they got awfully lucky to hold onto that win against Kentucky after blowing a huge lead in the 2nd half.  Auburn has improved, (although how could they not after their start) and after their home game against Florida which they should have won, they have some new found confidence.  Also, they have had some success at home, beating FSU just a few games back. Bama wins, but I think Auburn sneaks in a cover here
Alabama 62 - 55

Minnesota +2 @ Michigan:  The Wolverines have played very well at home this year, but this is one will end up being another unfortunate home loss.  Minnesota should come into Ann Arbor and dominate the interior, and the fact they are getting points shocks me.  Thought I would be giving up about 3 points here to get Minnesota, taking my two points to the bank, even though the Gophers should win this SU.

Texas A&M got lucky to cover, once again, Kan St shows why they are 1-4 in conference.

Nebraska -4 @ Texas Tech: the huskers are playing some good ball this year, and are actually fairly tough in the paint.  Tech, is just not very good.  No conferences wins yet, and I do not think they get one here.

BYU -7 @ Colo St: Jimmer Ferdette.....even though that is all I need to say, Byu will just have too much offense for the Rams.  Colo St is a decent team, but BYU just has too much firepower for them.  There could be a few points in this game....

Mich St @ Purdue -6: Mich St has been very disappointing this season so far, in comparison to what we are used to from them.  They just look different out there this season.  Kalin Lucas is not what he was before his Achilles injury, which is understandable.  But they do not seem to win down low like usual, they just don't seem as tough on the interior.  JuJuan Johnson should go off tonight, Mich St won't be able to guard him...
