Tampa Bay Online blog just posted breaking news on their blog that second leading scorer and rebounder Augustus Gilchrist will likely be benched for the second straight game for "philosophical differences" with the head coach. He was benched for the last game (and one other starter was out due to injury but he should be back tomorrow) which resulted in 5-pt loss to Kent St.
Just FYI - since the news was just announced, but take it with a grain of salt as the coach was careful to say "very doubtful" leaving himself an out to reconsider. I know no one wants to ever back this Auburn team but its an interesting situation for the USF team. All the quotes say their unified and they feel that even in their losses they could have won each of those games, but you do have to wonder if there is dissention in the locker room. Even before this news, covering a 12-pt spread in what seems to be a low scoring affair was going to be alot to ask from USF. It will be interesting to see the total on this game as well. Initially, I liked Auburn (even without the Gilchrist news) and had the total circled as a possible under. Lots more research needed before either of those are plays.

Good luck my friends - we are all in this together

thanks for the info...i was initially leaning auburn when i saw the line and briefly looked into it.
may lock it in tonight before it goes down, what are you thinking KP?
On matchbook, the initial money has been going towards USF - anyone that has seen Auburn will certainly not want to bet them so I think we might even get a better line.
Not sure how well known the Gilchrist info will be - he and other starter missed last game and I didn't see ANYONE mention it.
This isn't a bad matchup at all for Auburn - statistically they are very similar and USF has really struggled on the offensive end.
One of the biggest worries is that this is a very young Auburn team and its their first true road game and that normally spells disaster. And again, hard to know what USF's motivation level will be (will they rally behind the coach and be in eff you mode - will the coach reinstate Gilchrist and pump them - or will everyone be ticked and not on the same page - lots to consider).
Clearly though you have to be out of your mind to lay 12 points in this spot with USF with all the question marks. Rutgers actually played a very solid game against Auburn and couldn't cover the 9.5 on Saturday.

That is what everyone was saying about the Rutgers/Auburn game on Saturday too. If you can get enough points - even inept teams cover plenty - the uglier the team the easier it is to cover with that team as the season goes on.
This isn't a very good matchup for USF, but given this crazy suspension situation and Auburn's first true road game anything can happen. Laying 12 points with teams like USF is the fastest way to burn through a bankroll however - appreciate you dropping in - lets beat the books together

I remember you picking them against Rutgers, so you must have liked that spot against them. I was Kent St. against USF thinking Gilchrist was playing, so I was one of those people that didnt know
Under may be a better play as you pointed out. I hate playing teams in their first true road game, you just never know how they play in a road environment. For now, it's gotta be Auburn or no play if I had to choose a side, but may wait and check in the morning to see what the line does as 12.5 is just too much for two crappy teams.
look forward to see if you have a play on the total and/or side in this game.

My donbest screen (the screen most books out here use to show odds at all the casinos) just updated saying he is expected to miss due to personal reasons.
Not sure if that's worth anything.

That is very helpful - I'll be interested to see the matchbook line in the morning.
I feel confident he will miss the game myself - going to be researching hard to see what the mood of the team is like with his absence. I'll be up early researching and will post something about this game in the morning

Kine....i value your analysis and hard work..write ups....but i watched that entire game al;st week against rutgers..omg they are horrible! but to my dismay they play decent defence and can throw the rock from three(thats all they do it seems) but if they hit a few of them..im sure this could be closer then the books suggest. gl..ill be watching for your pick! ryno

Totals aren't available on Betus until about 6 PM. They are showing +11.5... if the line moves to 12 or more, I'll play Auburn. Otherwise, it is a no play for me.
