Purdue (5-1) @ Virginia Tech (4-2)
Interesting game we have right here.
In my preseason thread, I pointed out that this would be one of the
losses for Purdue. We get a ranked team
as underdogs against a non-ranked team, which is always something that draws my
attention no matter what the game is
.
This is Purdue’s first true road game of the year, and are coming off a
terrible game against Richmond last Saturday.
Virginia Tech comes in taking 2 of 3 games in So Cal and recently losing
to a tough UNLV team last time out.
It’s clear that Va Tech has been tested a lot more than Purdue (loss @ Kansas St, neutral win vs Oklahoma St, and neutral loss vs. UNLV), while Purdue’s only “tough” game was Richmond (a terrible game/loss). Malcolm Delaney is still the best player on the court IMO. Purdue is going to have to play lock-down D on him and force the role players for the Hokies to step up.
After a blazing start shooting the ball for the Boilers, they have now struggled in their last 2 games away from Mackey Arena and have been very turnover-prone. Va Tech can be a tough place to play, as some of the heavy weights of the ACC always tend to struggle there. With the line how it is, I would be on Va Tech easily, but that would mean for me to root against my Boilers to lose, which I won’t do.
Still wanted to give everyone my thoughts and suggest that VA TECH is the play here, but I will not be on it. I will obv. be pulling for a Purdue win, but I don’t think it happens. Still looking at the total (131) and may make a play on that one way or the other. GL to everyone who may play this game.
Two locked in plays so far:
ODU -3 (3U) - Let down game after Richmond beat my Boilers, and now must face a tough ODU team on the road.
LOYOLA-CHI +4 (2U)
Still looking at several others. Will firm up the final card in the afternoon. BOL on Wednesday ![]()
