What justifies West Virginia being ranked 11th?

Their non conference schedule was a complete joke, they did not play one good team.  (Other than Ohio State today)  In the Big East they had to go to OT with Seton Hall, beat Marquette by 1.... and are 0-2 against ranked teams on the year.  I just don't understand how these polls are decided upon??

Bob Huggins. Teams are ranked too many times based on their coaches. It's the same with UNC, how can anyone justify them being a top 10 team with a bunch of unproven players. They will be out of the top 25 soon, thanks for playing.

They play some of the best defense in the country and rebound well.

Let's...  I would expect the #11 team in the country to win on their home court against #25 Ohio State...

How about team's with the same record but multiple wins over ranked teams?  How about teams that have one more loss and have a non conference schedule 4 or 5 times as hard?  Their toughest Non Conference game was Mississippi

WV will be in the Elite 8 maybe the Final 4 this year.

They could be... they have great shooters... I just don't see what justifies such a high ranking at this point in the season... this would be their first win over a ranked team...

its pretty simple why they are ranked 11th. pre season rankings and its as easy as that. for whatever stupid reason college football and college basketball feel the need to rank teams without watching them play. WVU was a top 10 team pre season and then moved up with other teams losing and havent lost enough to get out of the top 15

For instance your GTown Hoyas have beaten 5 ranked opponents and have the same exact record... yet a lower ranking...

I agree but was curious which team/teams youd move over them?

Seems like they are being given alot of leaway with the ranking. I think they are being given a little too much credit for the name instead of the actual resume they have. They have the potential to go far but not having a good decision making pointguard and no real heavyweight downlow will be its downfall.

They will have trouble on the road in hostile enviroments. Purdue is certainly a better team imo.

Ahhh I thought you were saying there were no better teams.  Also look at teams like UNC and and UConn... how are they even in the top 25?  It is unreal...

Well their defense showed up in the final 5 minutes... they do look pretty good although it seems like they rely heavily on the 3 ball.  They are certainly a top 25  team, just don't think they are worthy of where they are ranked to this point...

yes perfect example. these rankings in both college football and basketball should not be done in the pre season. however during hoops is much harder because if you wait until after conference play to start the season is almost half over
