To me, washington looks like the best play on the board, head and shoulders. Romar has been comparing purdue's Defensive style to wash st, who wash beat twice this year. Game is in portland so its a home court, big ten was terrible this year. Purdue hung on to beat N. iowa but not very convincing to me. They beat shitty teams in their conference tourney. Purdue will not be able to keep Thomas out of the paint and I think washingtons athleticism will take over this game. I might just load up on them and not play anything else.
Any thoughts guys?

I'm in big. It's my favorite play of the day. Washington -1.
Both my brother and I attended Washington, so yeah I'm a little biased. But I have had an opportunity to see virtually every game this year. "U dub" plays an excellent, high energy defense. I think that will throw Purdue off. And yes, they are very athletic.
Early on, I see a close game. But as the game progresses, I see the Huskies increasing their lead and covering easily. I'm still shocked at the line

thanks guys....just talked to a buddy that knows the big 10, and he said this purdue team just got healthy, and that they are more athletic than a typical big 10 team. I bet on purdue a few times late in non conference and early conference play and they just pissed me off so I swore off betting on them and stopped watching them. Any big 10 guys out there that can fill me in a bit more on this team?

Isiah Thomas is a TURNOVER machine. He overdribbles and overpenetrates constantly. He gets caught in traffic or stuck in the air and then gives the ball away. I'm not a fan of Washington's diminutive backcourt at all. Purdue can really dig in on defense, they shoud be able to lock those guys up and prevent them from getting into the lane.
I think I like the under best in this game.

These teams are like mirror images of each other. Neither of them really have a true go-to scorer. Instead they both rely on a bunch of good players to score 9-13 points a game. Purdue is more athletic than you think.
I really don't see either team with a distinct edge here, it should be an extremely close game. But Washington's guards do NOT take care of the ball very well, they are highly prone to turnovers. A team like Purdue will prey on that because they get a lot of steals, play the passing lanes well and they're hands are always near the ball poking and swipping at it.

Purdue's perimeter defense is very, very strong. That is one of their strengths

Purdue is just a totally different team with Hummel at full power. And I love to take the slow down team as opposed to the run n gun Wash. I will be on the +2.

value....I went back and looked at I. Thomas' games and he is around a 1 to 1 asst to turnover, so yes you are correct. Still not sold that Purdue can win the game though.

Purdue & Washington are mirror images of eachother. I'm from Seattle, I watch every game...and follow basketball all over the country. Purdue doesn't have the scorers to go blow for blow with Washington. Thomas can be turnover prone...but he played exactly how I thought he would in his first tournament game...and that poor. With that game under his belt...I think you'll see him much more relaxed.
The difference in this game will be the ability of Washington to score in the paint...if Brockman gets off early...his energy radiates to the rest of the team...then Thomas starts driving...Dentmon knocks down 3's and Overton hounds their star guard all over the damn floor. Not to mention Turner a freshmen coming off the bench knocking down 3's and Pondexter slashing for easy buckets.
All that said, should be a good game...but playing in Portland (Where it was sold out on Thursday for their game) will be the difference. If Thomas rebounds...Purdue will be in trouble.

I would like to bet Purdue here, but those guys have cost me too many games this year... hell, they probably win this by 30 but they can really stink it up too... IF the real Purdue shows, they win comfortably; I just don't trust them to show, pass on this game; going to double up on Oklahoma over Michigan.... GLTA

kbrick...how much do you like them? a normal play or bigger? Any other games that you like?
I'd say a normal wager for me...basically because I learned a long time ago not to bet completely with your heart. Haha. This Washington team can surprise some people today...you'll see they love to play fast paced...but they can D it up with anybody as well.

Purdue, imo, is the best team in the big 10. Hummel can spread the d out with his 3 point shooting, Kramer is a lock down defender, And E'tuan Moore is one of the more athletic wings in the conference. Johnson is also an athletic big. These guys play good team D, Coach Painter is a defensive minded coach. To be honest, being from the midwest, I havent seen one game of U Dub all year but I have seen many many Purdue games and of all the big ten teams, I could only see Purdue making the deepest run in the tourney. Im staying away simply because I dont know much about washington. If Purdue controls the tempo, I think they have a good shot at it. This game should be a good one. Gl all

thanks for your insight truchu11....I think it will be a good game, but I just see rebounding as the difference in the game where I just have to pick the winner.
last 10 games purdue is 5-5 while wash is 8-2, last 5 away games purdue is 0-5 ats, wash is 2-1-1 and a home ats of 3-2. wash is 5 in the nation of home rebounds per game while purdue is 102 in nation in raod rebounds allowed

purdue is 7-3 L10...unless thats ats...Purdue won the big ten tourney and if there is one weak link to the team it is that they dont have much muscle inside. Dont know how big and or efficient U Dub's big is. Johnson is 6 10 but hes a lanky kid, not much meat on him.

Thought I was the only one around here that was going to be on Purdue
