The Palestra ranks just behind LSU's Tiger Stadium and just ahead of Fenway Park on my lest of all-time favorite places. (Alyssa Milano's crotch was left of the list, because, unlike half of the NHL, I've never actually been there).
Anyway, I had the unspeakable misfortune of watching the entire first Penn/Princeton game, and have spent weeks flushing my eyes with bleach in an effort to erase the memory. For what it's worth, Penn is better than Princeton. That, to be fair, is a little like saying Rosie O'Donnell is hotter than Rosanne Barr, but better is better. In fact, Penn was in the process of blowing the Tigers out of New Jersey when their center got thrown out on an awful flagrant foul call. Princeton got like 7 points on that possession, which, I believe, was about half of their second half total that night.
Quakers eventually won the first meeting by 7 in OT, and swept the Tigers last year. It's Senior Night for 4 players who are decent contributors. PU has lost its last four on the road by an average of 14. Nothing here would surprise me, as the year's Ivy League results appear to be randomly generated in a computer lab somehwere, but Pennsylvania should win this by 6 or so. Considering that line is 3, Penn looks like a decent wager.

Wow, you should prob go back to the Palestra for a Temple/St>joes game or Nova. really a great experience, sorry you had a bad one.
2 of P-town's road loses to the conf best, and Penn has been horrible at home. it took a Brown team, leagues worst, t break the 5 game losing streak. They did sweep last yr, but they do not happen a lot. I will take the revenge team getting pts here.

Been blessed to see many great games in the place. I think the 1979 Nova/St. Joe's game might be the best sporting event I've ever attended anywhere. Luke Griffin hit a shot at the buzzer to win the City for the Hawks. I still get chills thinking about it. Also saw many great Penn/Princeton games, back when both of them didn't suck out loud. I still can't figure out why St. Joe's doesn't just play all, or most, of its games there, instead of spending millions to renovate their high school gym. Same for LaSalle.

And you still hate it? Wow, you mightbe the 1st person I have heard say that. Although, I was around people from philly, so we all know that everything Philly is the "new Wheel" to them.

Hate the Palestra? Not me. I'd be buried there if they let me. I used to sit through Saturday tripple-headers when I was in high school. Get a bag of pretzels, and watch Dayton/Temple, St. Peter's/Nova and LaSalle/Albright. Nice life I had.

Just trying to get some decent info and make a few plays........now all I can think about is Alyssa Milano's snatch.
That is always a risk you run when you jump into one of my threads. Good to hear from you , Dore. Can't figure your (our) hoops team out this year. They just killed me at Auburn.

No IVY league for me... Sounds like good times at Palestra (triple headers and a bag of pretzels )
You've talked me into a play on North Dakota State..
I'm also going to be playing
Cleveland State +6
and The Hilltoppers -4
Check back later... been real busy catching up at work since the trip to Disney
I forgot you were at Disney. Welcome back.
The third game of that tripple-header was actually St. Peters/Nova, and the Peacocks used to run this stall-ball offense that could have put a coke adict to sleep. There were maybe 1,000 people in the place, and it was sort of muggy. I think it would up something like 32-27. By the end, we were all just praying to die.
I'm not even sure Albright exists any more.
For the record, it is impossible for me to have "talked you into playing NDSU," when the sum total of my comment was "Also playing: North Dakota State -4."

The font size and spacing were like a beacon of light to a caveman looking at the stars
Anyway generally speaking going away you have to work twice as hard to catch up , factor in an employee being sick or out for personal reasons... adds to my work.
Let's cash tonight .... Also been doing very well picking spots with LSU this season. I like a bounce back performance against the winner of OleMiss/ Kentucky

Don't be suprised if they make a SEC tournament run. They are 7-3 in the last 10 with wins over Kentucky, LSU and South Carolina and Ogilvy is finally healthy. For some reason the SEC tourny is in Tampa .....the hotbed of SEC sprots. There shouldn't be a real home court feel for anyone.
"The best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores"....Bob Knight
Vandy has eight true and redshirt freshmen this year ---3 starting and 5 of them in rotation.
The road loss to Georgia as a -6 fav will keep them from the tourney. 19-11 overall 8-8 in conf. (7-3 in last 10 games). Ogilvy fought a plantar muscle tear in his foot all season
The future is pretty bright on West End these days. I was at the Vandy v Arkansas game on Sunday. With Ogilvy in a bit of foul trouble, the 'dores went on a 14-3 run with Beal (jr) at point and 4 freshman on the floor late in the game to put it away. They have no seniors and Beal is the only junior....so it wasn't much of a senior day.
In the early signing period they signed John Jenkins, the leading scorer in the nation out of Station Camp HS (42.3 pts a game) 6'4" guard. He is a player--co mvp of the famed Nike camp summer league last year. He was on the 20 man McDonalds AA watch list until he passed on Duke, WF and Texas to sign with Vanderbilt--funny how that happens.
I know this is a topic for another forum...I digress
The football team kicked of spring drills this week with 18 returning starters from last years bowl team.
Good luck with tourney hoops..I always check your post for good info.
