AS YOU ALL KNOW I HAVEN'T BEEN THE BIGGEST MU SUPPORTER, BUT I KIND OF LIKE MU - 4 ON ESPN. MU IS DUE FOR A BIG WIN ON NATIONAL TV WHERE THEY HAVE LOST STRAIGHT UP THE LAST FOUR TIMES! WHAT YA ALL THINK!

First look, I like MU as well. Have to wait and see what happens between now and tomorrow night. Good luck on whatever side you take, I will probably just stay away and wait til Saturday. ||thumbs_up.gif' border=0>

Pitt plus the points. Until Marquette beats a quality opponent, I am fading them. They beat ND but that was a month ago. They beat wiscy as well, but that seems like forever ago. Other than those two, their wins have come against shitheads. Dixon and his kids get up for games like this.

i go to pitt and the play is the under. however if you were to take a team u would have to take pitt plus the points. this will most likely be a close game (last year Marq two wins by 3 and 4, Pitt by 10). Marq has not beat a quality opponent really, pitt with fields coming back has beat a few including #2 Duke and #6 or whatever Gtown is

Pittislt, This is a big-time revenge game for the Golden Eagles and it's also a classic case of two teams that are heading in different directions. Yes, Pittsburgh is still a ranked team while Marquette has now fallen out of the rankings. However, what I see is a Panthers team that is just 8-5 since opening up the season with an 11-0 mark. Yes, the Golden Eagles have been tripped up too recently but they're still 12-1 at home this season. Also, they took some positives from their recent losses to Louisville and Notre Dame and they turned that into a dominating win at Seton Hall on Tuesday.
The big news out of Pittsburgh is that Levance Fields is expected to make his return for this game tonight. I've got the "real" big news about this. Fields is not 100% and choosing to come back against the speedy backcourt of the Golden Eagles is simply asking for trouble. Fields undoubtedly will not be able to keep up with Marquette's quick guards. Now let's look at last season's Big East tourney loss that the Golden Eagles suffered at the hands of Pittsburgh. The Eagles scored 79 points in that game and all the players that scored points in that game will be on the floor for tonight's rematch against the Panthers. Let's contrast that with Pittsburgh: The Panthers scored 89 points in that game. Fields, who is still hurting, had 13 points. Mike Cook, who is out for the season with a torn ACL, had 16 points. Levon Kendall, Aaron Gray, and Antonio Graves combined for 39 points in that game. They were all seniors who, of course, won't be on the floor tonight.
By taking a look at last season's match-up you can see that the Eagles are the more experienced team coming into this game. An experienced team, and a healthier team, is one that can more easily exact revenge. This is what I fully expect tonight. A dominating home win for Marquette will be the end result. Another key that many may not realize about the Golden Eagles is that they are starting to get strong frontcourt play to complement their fantastic backcourt.
Sophomore Lazar Hayward, a forward, is now the leading scorer and leading rebounder for Marquette. 6'10 Ousmane Barro has asserted himself as the starting center and is playing the best basketball of his career. Off the bench, both Dan Fitzgerald and Dwight Burke are providing productive frontcourt minutes. This has helped to make the Golden Eagles a more well-rounded team and they will take advantage of a shorthanded Panthers team that is not nearly on the same level as last season's Pittsburgh team was

I liked the writeup japo, made me think twice about my under play acctually. however you cannot look at last years play against marq and say that everyone who scored is injured or gone. This is a totally different team this year with a completely different lineup. I believe a healthy pitt this year is better than last years team. If you look at last year, Sam Young averaged 7 ppg last year, this year its 18. he is now a leader. Blair will give pitt always solid play and will have a huge advantage over the marq frontcourt. Barro is no match for Blair and Young will match up well with haywood. your right with fields he is not 100% and still has a sore ankle, but it will not affect his play. If it does, ramon is in. Pitt has a short bench but its a deep bench. Ramon could lead this team for he did over gtown. Fields will change their play for pitt was ranked in the top 10 with him, they are barely a top 25 team without him. Fields is pitts best player. I guess we are just going to disagree on this one japo

Japo, comparing a pitt team from last year is flat out rediculous with 3 seniors that are gone and forgotten. Ramon, Young and Blair will singularly make sure the +5 will be more than enough!
