As my friend lil' K said, after 6.5 hrs including rain delays, there are 2 very sore boys in London at the moment. One of them however, is probably nursing his EGO more than his aching body.
Had he taken the usual Fedexpress approach and converted more than only 1 of those 13 break points, today we wouldn't be asking the question 'are we Fedup with Fedexpress' delivery method'.
You cannot expect to win the Wimbledon final however, when you hit well over 50 unforced errors and squander 12 break point opportunities! His tactic too, choosing to take on the Bull from the back of the court, was also another very dumb approach. There has never been, there isn't and probably there'll never be another one as solid as Rafa from the baseline. Even if they played on ice, Rafa would still demolish Federer from the back of the court. Arghhh It is very frustrating, because Roger has such a huge arsenal of weapons, but still he doesn't choose to use them when he plays Nadal. Please Rog, stop standing on the baseline and hitting that crappy backhand top spin time and time again. Slice that bloody back hand for goodness sake, give him a different look from time to time; come to the net and volley; drag him to the net by giving him a short ball now and then! Federer is the Swiss master but he desperately needs a good coach...
We shouldn't be too hard on Roger though, as there wasn't much between the two with Rafa Nadal winning only 5 more points than Federer (209-205), which proved to be the difference 4 hrs. and 48 minutes later. "I tried everything...Rafa is a deserving champion --he just played fantastic", Roger said.
Nevertheless, I reckon a nice torch for Rafa to hold aloft, would have been alot more appropriate than that Wimbledon trophy. Apart from the most incredible and amazing grand slam final ever, we also experienced the end of an era, with FedOver's six-year, 65-match unbeaten run on grass coming to a grinding halt. Furthermore, as far as the number 1 ranking goes, Rafa has closed the gap on FedOver, and I believe he will replace Roger as the new Number 1 by the end of the year.
Sadly, the grass didn't prove to be greener for Federer - and now we're off to the North American hard courts...

Federer was mentally beaten by Nadal, the champion fought out of his skin but the fear of losing to the bull did him no justice. His killer instincts to take the match wasnt there instead trying to play so defensively hoping for rafa to make errors, unfortunately for him rafa was hitting everything perfectly and had answers for whatever fed brought into the game. The only thing fedex had in this match was his first serve and couldnt convert many break points because there was so many doubts in feds mind, he was scared to come into the net at times and trying to hard to beat rafa from the backcourt. For the first time in many years I've witnessed roger playing so nervous on the wimbledon centre court and playing like he was already beaten. When he took it to the 5th set I somehow knew that without the tiebreak that rafa will prevail, he just couldnt break rafa's serve and he was in trouble. I believe roger played one of his worse match with so many unforced errors at a crucial time of his tennis career, winning 6 wimbledons would have been so special and something that we wont be able to witness in our lifetime. To me fedex is still the best player who is out of form, he needs get a coach and get back to the basics as his talent alone might beat alot of players around the circuit but not the elite players that are stepping up in their game. Nadal is a workhorse and a crafty player with amazing talent but if roger was to regain his form rafa will remain the second best, but right now without counting the points rafa has proven to the world that he is the genuine number 1 player of 2008.
I dont think roger can win the last slam (us open) with joker's hardcourt form and rafa's confidence sky high, but he needs to train hard and start believing in himself for the new year.
Roger is a champ and no one can deny his natural talent, he may be down mentally and physically right now but he'll be back.
Till then Nadal, this is ur time.

Nadal, unfortunately, plays tennis too rough, and he won't last much longer. The torque on the shoulder, wrist, elbow is going to get him..........just like the knees and feet already have.
The hardcourts are destroying his legs, and you will see that once again as the year progresses. Even if he plays only the US Open, Olympics, and 5 Masters series (Toronto, Cincy, Madrid, Paris, Shanghai) events, his body will still break down.
Too bad, but I think Fed will still be playing when Rafa is forced to retire.

The ATP schedule it too damn long, and since no one is that in to Davis Cup (which is unfortunate, but understandable in a world where money talks and everything else listens), Davis Cup needs to be like once every 4 years.......like the Olympics.
The WTA schedule is too damn long, also.
I love tennis, don't get me wrong, but a season that lasts 10+ months is asinine.
People love to give the Williams girls crap for playing a watered down schedule compared to the top WTA peeps, but they're smart for doing so. They're sacrificing ranking for time off.....and it's wise.

If Federer never lost at Wimbledon he would never have to look as deep in himself, as he is now, to see if he is playing his best tennis and if that can be bettered. Hopefully over the next 12 months Federer will be forced to bring his tennis to an even higher standard.

Cooler, on the 'no sleep' subject, yeah can't agree anymore, I am a walking Zombie at the moment. My biorhythm is all screwed up, I don't know when it's evening or morning anymore.
Jdoobiz, your analysis on Roger being a nervous wreck is spot on mate. I've never seen the bloke play with so much fear. He looked like he would have felt safer carrying a machine gun in Basra than facing Rafa at centre court the other night
Ellwd, fully agree that they both are inspirational players in more ways than one. Re. Tennis selection, I will take a break until the next Masters Series event. I am going back to the bullpen now...
CCL, too bloody right mate. Their schedule is excrusciating to watch LET ALONE be the one playing it. Very smart of the Williams sis, to pass on so many events. The ATP and WTA are hungry money making machines and they treat the players as robots. Hence you have careers cut outrageously short i.e. Hingis, Henin, and so so many other players, due to their joints giving way. Nadal too has career threating injuries (allegedly!) I don't think his knees will hold him up for much longer. They say surgery can't fix what he's got, so we'll wait and see
Tozer, I really hope your prediction comes true as I would love to see Roger get back to where he was. BUT I highly doubt it. His confidence looks as high as the dead sea. He's making errors and people are laughing at some of his shot choices, which again goes back to his shattered confidence. During last year's Wimbledon, several times the commentators would say "Oh Please stop it, oh that's unbelievable.." etc... Roger was breath taking and immaculate with his shot selections. This year he played very sub par tennis, and giving back breaks to Nadal and shivering under pressure not to convert break pt opportunities, shows that, whatever is wrong with Federer, is not a small thing.
For the moment, Nadal is the word of the day
Cheers everyone
