Czech Republic managed to beat all the odds after their disappointing first round performance in group A, when they lost to Russia 1:4 and were overwritten almost from even all of their fans. However, they managed to win the next game, not by playing superbly, but by scoring two goals in first six minutes of the game against Greeks, which was enough for their final 2:1 victory. Finally, in last round they managed to get a 1:0 narrow victory over hosts from Poland in a pretty equal match. This achievement was more than unexpected from anyone after the first round and probably even most of the fans are satisfied enough and know that it will be very hard for limited Czech squad to do something more against much, much better individuals from Portugal. Rosicky rejoined the squad again, but the chances that he will play are slim and even if he does, it doesn’t improve their chances a lot.
Portugal, on the other hand, had a slippery start against the Germans in more or less equal game, but in a game where Portuguese were much more cautious opponents and probably didn’t get the right tactics for the game as they were not trying to attack until they have received a goal – only then they have attacked and managed to create some nice chances but there was not enough time to score the goal against good defending Germans. In the second round they knew that they must attack as the Danish were probably the weakest team in the group, at least on the paper. The game started well for them and although they had an early lead, they managed to make the game interesting allowing Denmark to get a 2:2 result, but finally luckily enough for Portuguese, they celebrated with a 3:2 victory.
Czech squad and potential is limited in comparison to Portuguese, they already did enough here and this is most likely their last game at this EURO. They already had a lot of problems and very heavily beaten against the Russians which used their fast wingers to break the defense, similar style that the Portuguese prefer too.
Prediction: Portugal 3:0 or 3:1
