Cup Game Question

I've read that some teams don't like these Copa and Carling games.  Why is that? 
 
What about FA Cup?  Do teams rest their regulars in games?

These competitions are regarded as having "less importance" by the clubs when compared to European competitions or the EPL (English Premier League)...therefore, most teams tend to rotate their players in order to rest the most important ones and even when they play first team players a lot of times they seem to lack motivation in these games...smaller clubs do all they can to take advantage of these "spotlight" games to make an impression...
