pretty much non-smoking everywhere, even restaurants/bars....if a bar has like over %10 of their revenue from food orders than it has to be non smoking. though most of the bars at riverfront are smoking.
There are alot of places to play holdem...hardrock, dania jalai, a bunch of places up north and an indian casino in deep miami.
I only do the limit games, if I wanna waste time and just BS or get drunk, I don't do it to make money...it is just a lottery and if you take it serious you will wanna put a gun in your mouth by the end of the day.
The no limit games at the hard rock are either 1-2 or 2-5 but the max buy in is $100 so it makes it tough to play until you build your stack. You get alot of beginners and drunks on vacation who play at the hard rock, which can be good or bad, if you know what I mean....but generally its a pretty soft place to play.
The Dania Jalai is another place to play but its a scummy place that attracts the degenerate leatherasses....but depending on what type of player you are, it might be the better place to play.
But nothing beats the scenery at the hard rock on a friday night
