Damn kids popping mushrooms out in the wilderness:
Meet Taylor Powers.
The college student, 21, had to be rescued yesterday afternoon off a Colorado mountain after she ingested mushrooms, stripped off her clothes, and scuffled with two classmates with whom she had been hiking.
Rescuers had to handcuff the unruly Powers, who struggled as she was placed in a rescue basket.

I've only taken mushrooms a few times when I was younger, but they made me ultra relaxed. Why was she in distress?I don't think I've ever been around someone who wasn't happy when they took mushrooms.

I've had good trips and bad trips. Even during the good trips a portion of it went south. Outgrew that habit
Did you find a reason why you had bad trips?
Like I said I've only done it a few times 5 at max, but never had anything remotely bad associated with mushrooms. The worse experience was when I visited my sister in Cleveland and I was sitting on Lorain watching the cars go by and I leaned up against a tree and had ants all over me not imaginary either haha. I despise ants, but even with that I still sat there watching the lights pass by in a calm peaceful mood.
Is it like alcohol it depends on what mood you're in to begin with? Or more psychological? Like if you're a dark person you would expect a bad trip?

In the picture this future journalist has too many clothes on to determine why she had a bad trip.
I took some mushrooms at a GratefulDead concert and everything was peachy until I noticed my girlfriend making out with Arlo Guntrie then I bummed but I didn't take my clothes off.

Never been a big drug user....never even done shrooms. But I have had multiple bad experiences with pot. I think anxiety is a bad combo. with drugs.
The last time I smoked pot, I ended up on my bed in my dorm room thinking the flying monkeys from Wizard of Oz were coming to get me. Not good.

I walked 6 miles home in the Seattle pouring rain and cold in my socks, (too stoned to find my shoes) after multiple 4foot high school bong rips.
Pot scares hell oughta me....can't think at all.
Shrooms? Holy moly, some people have huge stones to eat those. Especially considering the high incidence of cardiac arrest associated with those blue ringer bombs.

Same here. I had a good friend who functioned perfectly daily on a marijuana high. Not me. Gave me the unsociable paranoia creeps and haven't smoked it in many years. I don't care for stuff which dumbs me down.

thats why I dont like alcohol as substance of choice...
Everyone has a different body chemistry... so substances affect people differently... like opiates/painkillers and benzodiazapines do nothing for me while alot of people are hooked on stuff like that... my body chemistry doesnt like depressants/downers...
whats weird about weed is that one strain can have hugely different effects from another strain... even the same strain grown in different conditions can have difference in the active chemicals....
So weed is not just weed... the type and how it is grown can make a huge difference...
Mushrooms are similar in that they vary from different species as well as strengths...
I did mushrooms in college, really enjoyed that time in my life...
but my last trip was after finals in my last quarter as a last hurray and at that point I realized that I had outgrown it because I was just waiting for it to end...
Good contributions by everyone so far giving real life experiences and perspective...
well most everyone

some weeds give body highs and some mindfucks. If pot gives you anxiety I wouldnt try shrooms. Also if you don/t eat atleast an 8th dont even waste your time

The max Ive tried is 1/4 because it was weaker shrooms... never did that again...I got physically ill...
I also shared an 1/8 of shrooms once with 3 people... I had this recipe using korean instant noodles that were super spicy... so it masked the taste... cooked it up, poured three small bowls drank the broth and everything...
was super chill, mostly body... very little anything else... smoked weed along with it... and although not intense and mind blowing it was a fun experience... so I actually think trying half and 1/8 is the way to go for your first time to get a taste of what you might be in for before you commit to a period of psychosis

indica = body high
sativa/harvested too early =mindfuck

Its too bad that drJ or any of the real doctors that could speak to this...
mushrooms and open public nudity dont go together... and I think people that have done mushrooms know this...
I remember during clinical meetings/rounding, the question comes up asking if you have a patient presenting with psych issues and open public nudity is one of their presenting problems of why they were admitted, what is it that you are probably looking at?
I can tell you mushrooms would not be the logical medical/clinical deduction... but if you piece the components of the puzzle together it can all make sense...

I'm one of the ones that had anxiety when smoking pot. I was just all over the place and not in a good way. Always looking around like what the darn is going on. I never saw anything or walked 6 miles in the pouring rain without shoes on haha, but I would hear all sorts of garbage. I wouldn't be able to handle venturing out into the real world, but mushrooms I was as relaxed as can be and just enjoyed everything.

I respect you and other in terms of your character and ability to have an open and honest discussion about substances.... seems like alot of people lack the maturity and resolve as a person...
It just goes to show that we all have different brain/body chemistries...
I think that pot is something that causes paranoia and anxiety, but this extremely compounded and exaggerated by the fact that it is illegal and so much outright Lies of it being a gateway drug and it being extremely harmful....
If the gateway theory were correct, all of us that used pot would be on heroin or heavier drugs by now... I actually see cigarettes as the gateway drug as most people smoke that and it leads to pot and smoking others things... but that is gateway that opens the door....
your mushroom experience is interesting to me as I actually believe that having a solid faith/spiritual base allows people to enjoy psychedelics more than people who have no existential anchor or grounding...
what was your faith/spiritual base like during the time that you enjoyed your trip?

Mushrooms are ver psychedellic, I live in Cenral america nad have many experineces with many different types, Shrooms are known to make you a little nauseous when the trip is beginning because of the fact that pscillocibin is actual venom it is mild though, The bad thing about mushrooms is that is you are not in a good frame of mind they will mind darn you, They can bring out all kinds of repressed Childhood memories and they really mess with you emotional state and if you are with someone you dont really know or trust then it can also go south, Mushrooms are definitley the type of Drug I have always done with a designated driver who is clena and sober and dedicated to calming things down and being a care giver if something goes south. But they can be really FUN!!!!

Yea, I don't see marijuana as a gateway drug. I see it usually as the first one used because of the availability of it, but it doesn't cause you to try others.
I've always had a pretty solid base spiritually so you might be onto something. I went into taking them with an open mind maybe that has something to do with it. It's definitely an experience that I would suggest others to try at least once in their lives.
