#1 Posted: 7/30/2012 1:12:55 PM I'm sure most of you have played some competitive sports. Who would you classify as the greatest "athlete" to ever compete in the Olympics? |

#16 Posted: 7/30/2012 2:13:49 PM Spitz is a good one. Not hating on Phelps, but he lost his heart after '08. I saw a piece on him on 60 minutes. He doesn't care as much anymore. |

#19 Posted: 7/30/2012 3:29:37 PM No hating on Phelps but you can't really believe that a swimmer is the greatest athlete can you? Just because they get 8 medals in one Olympics for doing basically the same thing doesn't make them better than the winner of a decathlon who wins 1 medal. |

There's no stopping a track athlete from entering the 100m, 200m, 400m, 110m hurdles, 220m hurdles 400m hurdles all individually, not to mention the longer distances or the field events |

#23 Posted: 7/30/2012 4:31:07 PM Spitz thinks it is Phelps. 14 golds and counting. His heart probably isn't in it as much this year, but this is his 3rd Olympic games.
Love me some Jesse Owens and Carl Lewis was the Olympics in the 80's.

#25 Posted: 7/30/2012 4:38:48 PM Edwin Moses was dominant for a long time. He missed out of 1980 or else he would have 3 Golds and a Bronze over4 Olympics of hurdles. |
