My gf had the same thing. Dont get too worked up. Just go to the doc and see whats up. You will have to go regularly and have them look you over. Check yourself out and keep an eye on moles or anything odd on your skin, especially if it changes.
Relax and see what happens. No reason to have a nervous breakdown on top of it. 
There are three different types of skin cancer, with melanoma being the most serious. My mom had basal cell removed last summer, nothing to it because it doesn't spread. But melanoma can spread like wildfire to vital organs. It doesn't react to chemo at all, so it's fairly dangerous. I had a few spots checked out a few months ago, was scared shitless considering skin cancer runs in my family but the derm said it was fine. I have a fair amount of freckles and moles that I freak out about here and there.
I pray that for you that yours is level 1 melanoma
