I pay for sports premium channels,HD ,HBO etc..One freaking channel (TVG-Horse racing) will show 'Not Authorized' while the others in that 'pack' work..

Tried calling last week and was told it was not my problem alone.inter comcast fix order in...so today still not working and I get the run-around from CSR's in Manilla..all they can do is schedule a tech for a home inspection..ok fine...I try to explain to her that my cable box is not the issue and ask to speak with her super..then I start playing the game.. She says her supervisor is taking another call and will call back in an hour or two...I told her I am recording names and times etc..I'll wait... or transfer me to the USA...What's your Super's name etc..

She does and I get an American (CapA ) Decent guy who I explain the current problem with..Asks me If I have a problem with my internet..nope...He sees I have a work order/home visit in and he agrees that's not the problem..Problem is is that he is INTERNET support, not cable...So I ask him,hey man,can you transfer me to someone in TV support and he does...right back to Manilla..and a CSR asking me my last 4 of #ssn...And what my issue I am calling about is?

Besides one hand not knowing what the other is doing -businesses this big and all this unemployment why are they outsourcing  overseas??  Cmon create some jobs and training for inner city/rural behind poorly schooled americans..

But not to get off-topic- Cable TV has us by the balls..

Not Comcast but we deal with the same garbage in Canada.  I've cancelled my home phone and moved to a VOIP for a $150 one time cost that included the cost of porting my phone number.  That saves me $50 a month forever.  Haven't noticed a difference.  I've recently cancelled my internet and moved to a 3rd party reseller and went from 80 gb a month to 300 gb a month for $10 cheaper for the exact same service.

Only thing left is my tv service.  I used to buy the sports packages at $200 a pop but for the first time I'm using mlb.tv which saved me $75 and I receive a far superior service IMO.

I have a bundle with comcast... pay about $150 a month for internet (fast), phone (never use) and HD cable with no premium channels...

I find that I am only watching TNT and ESPN this month which makes the HD worth it... I think it would be like $10 more a month for DVR... But I bought something that records cable on to a lap top and watch off of that... I use the comcast ondemand feature even tho it sucks...

I really dont watch that much TV... and my wife has converted to netflix for most of her watching on iphone/ipad... I also have a wifi bluray player that streams netflix and youtube...  we also use our iphone/ipad off of the wireless in the house...

So I want to just keep the internet... but not missing the sports NBA and NFL that I like to watch in HD is the selling point for me..

I actually talked to the billing people and they gave me $120 credit when I said that I was thinking about changing things...  I think anything to keep me signed up...  redbox and netflix is killing the video rental business and has to be having some effect on the cable tv market... so perhaps outsourcing is where they are going... my guess is that anything related to billing or retention will stay at home... but tech support being contracted makes sense...

Dont really know much about my alternatives and with their "adjustments" in prices I am expecting to be paying them over $2000 a year soon...

I pay 198.00 for cable + Internet... cable and cell phones(125.00) have to be the biggest rip offs out there.

I quit cable months ago and it's been great.

I got an HD antenna to watch the major networks= free

A Roku box with Hulu+ and netflix, plus a ton of other garbage= $16 a month

For games there are 2 options, you can buy sports packages on Roku for MLB, NHL, and NBA  or stream games from your laptop or desktop.

I have an extra PC so I'm going to set it up to the TV with a wireless keyboard so I can stream games for free.  Any shows that are not offered on Hulu or Netflix are easy to find on the internet.

I have not missed cable once, I'm happier without it.
