I&#x27;m going to try to make a case for NASCAR  &#xD;&#xA;Born out of the moonshine runs, it&#x27;s all-american.  When you go to a race, it still has the common man for it&#x27;s fan base.  No threat of a strike, lockout, or PSL sales, it caters to men, and compared to other sports, women represent a great percentage of it&#x27;s fan base.  Forget about the "redneck", "turn left", "ker&#x27;yuk&#x27;yuk", stereotype; before every race, you will hear prayer, which is what the forefathers of this great country relied on in decision making, and could use a little more of that with this administration.  Gentlemen, start your engines, A-Men!  #22!!

The answer is usually something to the effect of the large crowds at the race......"Nothing like seeing a race in person"

I can see that but not watching cars drive on TV.

I do not want to watch anything that you can not tell who the winner is without being told by the announcers.

Baseball.  I&#x27;m old school.  There is no time clock.  The game unfolds as a book.  Only when the pitcher decides to throw the ball, do the pages turn.  The story is told in the summer sunshine.  It brings back memories of what was good.  And hope that it can be good again.  For a father to have a catch with his son, and hear those precious words, "Dad, can we have a catch again tomorrow".

Just think of it this way...America&#x27;s Sport is whatever we&#x27;re better at than any other country.Try to put together a "World" team to go against any type of Olympic American team and I don&#x27;t even think they could assemble a team.Then in basketball...it may be universal...but where are the best players from? America.Baseball is America&#x27;s pastime...but it&#x27;s just that. It&#x27;s my favorite sport...but it was more of America&#x27;s sport in the PAST. We can&#x27;t even assemble the best team in the world. Or...maybe we can. Agents/owners just won&#x27;t let them play in these things these days.

Absolutely football...baseball is sinking rapidly (coming from a huge baseball fan even). Baseball just can&#x27;t match up to football, not even close. The above mentioned comments about baseball are so very true and it makes baseball great. But the length of the games are fucking ridiculous and for anyone to argue that knows that they are simply lying to themselves...its like the game of golf today, the damn pros can&#x27;t finish 18 in under 5 freaking hours. Ridiculous. Football it is.

Depends who you ask. Anyone born before 1960 give or take a few years will say baseball. Anyone younger will likely say football. NFL is rapidly expanding and dominating MLB / Baseball. Its scary. I enjoy the NFL much more than the MLB but still respect the history and game of baseball.

Selig and the MLB have to make a drastic move or they may be done within the next 10-20 years...

Michfan, the question is...what on earth can Selig and the MLB do to change baseball? IMO the length of the games is KILLING baseball, 7 innings is a much better idea IMO. But I know the old school guys will bash the hell out of me for that idea.

I&#x27;m not old school, but that 7 inning idea has to be just silly. Imagine Pujols getting 3 at bats per game on average and makes 20&#x2B; million a season. That works out to something around $40K per at bat. And people wonder why baseball has issues.

kickinA, thats a good point and pretty much the reason why I know that will never happen...for the game to go to a 7 innings would mean a total reconstruction of contracts but at the same time, if you lengthened the number of innings you would essentially be adding a year or 2 to a players career at least, would it not?  YES, it is a farfetched idea but I too think baseball needs to make a serious change in the the next decade or so. Don&#x27;t get me wrong man, I love baseball (my 2nd favorite sport next to football) but 162 games a year at 9innings a game plus a months worth of playoff baseball is A LOT.

Not just that but I can see numbers like 18 HRs and 65 RBIs leading the league at the end of the season. Quality starters would have ERAs in the ones too.

Most people prefer high scoring games and I just don't see that ever happening. Despite all the steroid issues of the '90s, it brought more fans to the game. That 7 innings idea would just detract from it.

Adding a season or two to a players career also takes from those up and comers that has all the potential too, but then they won't get much playing time either. That's another issue as well.

Yeah, I know realistically it will never happen but its just my outside idea. And its not like you can put a shot clock on a pitcher in between pitches lol...I really don&#x27;t know what the answer is for baseball. But I feel like if baseball is exactly the same 50 years from now then it will be struggling to hold on man. Shit, outside of 6 or 7 teams, teams struggle to fill the seats with fans. Baseball execs are in a tough spot and the commissioner and his cronies are in an even tougher spot. ALSO if the game did become 7 innings all the stats and record books would virtually have to be reset/start over and that obviously wouldn&#x27;t be good for the game... Do you have any good possible solutions for MLB?
