link - when it comes to depression, serotonin isn't the whole story
link - psychiatry's grand confession
Color me shocked, the healthcare industry and the FDA have flubbed another one. 27 million Americans are prescribed dangerous mind altering drugs, that cause chemical imbalances. Seems like somebody was confused about the problem, and that has led to a very dangerous "not-so-solution". I'm just glad that the government has decided to help the populace out by forcing people that work for a living to pay a higher fee to the health-insurance-complex, so that the government can continue to make people ill with drugs, that cause more harm than good
depression as a disease that can be treated with drugs
hyperactivity as a disease that can be treated best by giving children Methylphenidate
The way to better the nations health is to have more people paying health insurance

are you suggesting some profit motive collusion between a government agency founded to regultate, to help and protect its citizens and the "private, capitalistic, free market" healthcare industry?
or just another coincidence
im just glad that the all natural remedy for most is prohiibited, just think of the harm that could do to a society

Decades ago, there were doubts about the chemical imbalance theory. But doctors still prescribe drugs because they are the best known treatments available that are covered by insurance. Drug industry profits but not insurance industry.
Psychiatry has a history of controversial treatments such as electric shocks. Despite brain damage, suffering patients still want shocks to relieve their depression!

i hate to use the, when i was a kid" comment, but i don't remember anyone taking all this shit back then. of course, my solution is diet. you feed kids stuff that they weren't designed to eat over and over and the effect can't be good. as a parent, i would look to make changes there rather than just feed them some strange drug.

There is a reason for the lacking of information and the marriage to misinformation, in the 'healthcare' field. Whatever happened to nutrition, and why is it so neglected? I would imagine that if the populace had the information that is out there about nutrition, and if the government didn't work so hard to obscure it, there wouldn't be a pharmaceutical industry
The FDA/USDA Food Pyramid is at the heart of the nations health problems, and the FDA gets fat off of the misinformation

i'm just thankful to have been lucky enough to had a parent with mind enough to question the push for this shit.
SAY NO TO DRUGS
When I was younger I used to work in lock down mental health facilities for children and teens... It was like a step down from a hospital or asylum... but these kids where not fit to be in the general public for their safety and the safety of others...
The meds these kids came in on were crazy... interestingly it is often the lower socioeconomic that have the behavior problems that result in them being prescribed meds... but for the high sociosconomic children they could end up on meds because they can afford them and they keep jumping to the next new/expensive craze and their insurance probably covers it all which is another part of the scam... people without insurance are on the walmart $4 formulary...
The psychiatrist was an expert in child psychiatry and cleaned up the messes that RNs, internal medicine and family practices created... kids would come in on like 4 or 5 things and couldnt tell what was working and what was making things worse...
The goal of the program was often that they leave off of meds or at least on the one that is working...
What happens when you take a brain off of the chemicals or if the chemicals are actually making things worse can be hard to watch... but figuring the goal was to help them get through this crazy time and allow their brains to heal was worth going to work and dealing with insane behavior that landed them there...
They were there a minimum of 2 weeks and a max of 90 days depending on how long it took for them to stabilize...
The whole problem is that real mental illness has an onset in the teens to twenties... so to start diagnosing kids at an early age is a bad idea... but with a diagnosis comes a med/s so thats the other part of the scam... and everyone takes a cut...
