Reno is a dump. Methhead city. Lived here for nearly 34 years. I was a poker dealer for a few years at the Atlantis made 100-120 in tips on a good night. Weather is shitty also. Snows till fucking June, or like this year it doesn't snow and the temp drops to 0. Was 8 degrees when I went out to walk the dogs the other day. Haze just sit in the valley cause of the cold.
Tahoe is nice, again if you like snow and cold till June. We didn't dare swim in it this year till after the 4th of July.
Vegas is like an internet pop up but much better action if you like poker like me. My wife has a killer job here in Reno both of our home towns, that is why we are still here. We dream of the day of getting out and going someplace warm and green.

i go to reno once, maybe twice a year, you can live there for peanuts but its a shithole, no decent players or action there anymore, more hard luck stories than at a life insurance salesman's convention.
tahoe gets a lot of tourists and is very pretty but very cold as well, and its hard to get around, gotta get chains on your car for a start.

Lake Tahoe is absolutely beautiful!! I have lived here since 1987 and love it! The economy here is based almost 100% on tourism. The best skiing in the nation as it usually snows from late October to early May or like last year June. Great weather in the summer...70 to 80 in the days and cool nights. Sports betting is easy and convenient. 4 sports books on the South Shore and 3 more on the North Shore. My problem is sometimes when I cash a ticket, I play a little at the tables or video poker and waste away my hard earned winnings. Reno is an hour away and yes like any town has its drawbacks. Unemployment is high so is drug use. Jobs are scarce..I work 3 part time jobs ion Tahoe and that is plenty to live on and have a little fun.

Tahoe is amazing for snowboarding. Didn't do anything in Reno except fly in and rent a car. Might as well move to vegas if you want to move to nevada IMO. Get a nice condo on the strip, or find some roomies and get a house in a suburb. GL dogunder

doqunder, Odds are not in your favor on that one... Driest December on record so far...When it snows, every one will be hiring, until then, not looking good. However I do know someone who has a carpet cleaning business for sale in South Lake Tahoe...immediate cash flow.
