We all know about South Carolina running the ball out of the back of the end zone for a safety as time ran out making SC backers rather pissed.
Anything like this or any other sport happen to you?
I have several stories but I will start with a positive one.
I grew up in the New York area and my Godfather had connections with a thoroughbred train a the Meadowlands with the name of Cunningham. This is late 70's, so when they were going to go with a horse my parents would get a call and we would all head to the track. This evening we were told they were going with a horse named Spanish Dame at 21-1 post time odds. As they were in the stretch the favorite at 7-5 had about a 10 length lead with a furlong left at which point she and the jockey jumped the inner rail and of course Spanish Dame made a late charge down the middle of the track to win by 2 1/2 going away.

I think it was 1994, I was in Vegas I bet under 49 1/2 on a NCAA football game (I do not remember the teams) The score was 34 - 14 with about 6 minutes to play. The team that was ahead had the ball around midfield. They kept running the ball picking up 1st downs, they had 4th down and 2 from the 7 yard line, with about 1 minute to go. They go for it and just run it up the middle for no gain. The other team gets the ball back at the 7 and the very first play the QB drops back to pass and gets sacked in the end zone for a safety, game ends 36 - 14

July 24,1983 (Yeah, I know I'm showing my age here)
Kansas City Royals at New York Yankees.
I'm on the Dog, KC, and I REALLY need this game. I'm watching on TV hoping for some magic lightning to strike. Was down a couple hundred plus to my Local that week and this game was going to bail my ass out.
Yankees are winning 4-3 as we go to the top of the 9th inning.
Royals got a man on base with two outs and up steps George Brett.
BANG. 2 Run Shot to Right Field and the Royals take a 5-4 lead.
BUT WAIT. NYY Manager Billy Martin comes charging out of the Yankees dugout protesting something. I look and the HPU is checking Brett's bat. Then he declares "Illegal Bat, batter out, Yankees win 4-3".
YES, I AM ON THE WRONG FUCKING SIDE OF THE INFAMOUS PINE TAR GAME.
I had to settle up a big losing week with my local. Meanwhile, MLB decides a few days later that the bat WAS NOT ILLEGAL and will keep the game SUSPENDED until August when KC comes back into New York.
Too late, my money was gone. Instead of being EVEN on the week, I had lost $500. I laugh about it now, but thirty years ago, a $500 swing was HUGE.
And that, my degenerate friends, was TheGolgenGoose's worst Sports Bad Beat of All Time.

By Far the fucking GT game a few weeks ago. Will never forget that monkey that fumbled the ball away. Fucking Paul Johnson and his decision not to take a knee!!! Have not touched College football again and most likely never will.

Pittsburgh not getting their defensive TD a few years ago when Polamalu picked up a fumble and ran it into the end zone against the Chargers to cover as time ran out cost me quite a pretty penny and was BRUTAL to watch live.

kentucky with mashburn against utah with van horn in the final 4. i had utah +13 ... maybe more ... utah was leading by 17 or so at the half. billy packer said "nobody has ever come back frm a deficit like this" ... kentucky came back and covered.
i forget the exact numbers and im too lazy to look them up ... but, that was a bad beat. i was young and it was a big bet for me at the time. might of even introduced me to the payment plan.

Good story. If you ever think about one pissed off athlete after a bad call, has to be Brett's reaction..thought his head was gonna explode..
For the life of me can't remember a significant bad beat sports bet, though I'vd had many..just selective memory I guess. Can't really call horseracing a bad beat losing big exotic payouts by a nose,etc..
Buddy of mine has a losing Vegas sportsbook ticket on the Yanks from a few years ago.Yanks worst defeat in history to Cleveland.First night in Vegas and pounded the game.

Of course, all you lost there was a miracle cover, so there was some rough justice/ The MSU game Saturday was similar. Yes, it was a tough beat for the Cocks backers, but they seemed to have picked the wrong side anyway.
I lost a six-teamer worth a couple of thousand dollars once - back when I didn't have ten extra cents to my name, and was largely supporting my young family with sports wagering. All WVU had to do was punt with a few sconds left against Miami. Tremaine Mack blocked it, which also would have been fine, had he done anything but score with it (a Miami FG would have won them the game, but would not have beaten me); but, of course, he shrugged off about seven tackles on his way to the end zone. I just sat on my couch and cried.

I don't even know where to start. I have been moosed so many times. How about this years mooses.
Jags/Bengals game. No time left and the jags lateral 10 times and the bungals pick it up and go in for the td to ruin my second half under.
Eagles kicker missing easy field goals,Ronnie Browns stupid fumble, Jeremy Maclin fumble in the last minute. Eagles collapse to ruin a huge teaser for me. Only needed the Eagles to win.. Haven't bet on the Eagles since because they cost me in the 2 games before that as well.
Eagles game again. The first half of the Falcons Eagles game. I had first half Eagles ml huge. Eagles lead 10-7 and are about to score again with 1 minute. First and goal and they do some stupid play and Vick fumbles and Atlanta runs it back the other way 80 yards which results in a td. FUCK YOU EAGLES especially Vick
So many others like missed pat's in College. I am trying to forget about all this.

How about the DAL/OKC game that had the ridiculous ending with Stevenson hitting a three at the buzzer to screw OKC bettors that wasn't even shown on TV cause they were too busy showing Dallas' coach getting into with the refs? I think it was DAL/OKC, people who were with me in the NBA forum last year definitely will know what game I am talking about.

was that the one where he literally stepped out of bounds, or something like that?

I think it was either 2004 or 2005 NCAA BBall....i had wisconsin -2.5 at minnesota. Wisky is up about 20 at the half, and manage to blow the lead and are down a few with about 3 minutes left. They manage to come back, get the 3 point lead, and are fouled with 2.2 left...kid on wisky hits both FT's and they're up 5.
Minnesota inbounds the ball and Vincent Grier heaves a shot from his own FT line that he drains...Wisky wins by 2. I proceed to slam my right fist through the wall as my gf walks in the door and asks "what the fuck is going on?"

I was on Utah +8 for this seasons Utah/USC game where the Pac-12 officials awarded USC the TD after the blocked FG. The onfield official ruled it no TD and it really had no bearing on the game since USC was going to win either way. But it made all the difference in the world to bettors on the game.
Makes me wonder about the legitamacy of the Pac-12 front office and whether or not someone up high may have had money on that game.

I was at a McDonalds in Canada and wanted to order a super-sized coke. The guy says, "Sure just a minute. I have to help this guy minion at the drive-through first."

NCAA B-Ball Championship- Good ole Memphis blows a 12pt lead with 2 minutes left by not hitting their free throws & Mario Chalmers hits a game tying 3 to send into OT.. I turned off the TV after that shot final score 75-68 Kansas

I lost plenty of games in the last second on some fluke shit but one that comes to mind is that Detroit Piston game when they decided to brawl in the last few minutes of the game.
I believe I had the over in that game with a few minutes to go and the over was a lock to hit... then they decided to throw beer and fight and game was called and my over lost.

Remember hitting rock bottom on the Sugar bowl when I had Arkansas getting 4.5 and Arkansas TT over 26.5.
Final score 31-26.
If you remember there were about 7 dropped balls by Arkansas receivers, even 3 or so in the fucking endzone!
I also remember a college hoops game - the U playing Clemson or something - I had the over at 122.5 and they had a combined 121 - nobody score for the last 5:46.
