Personally, I hate ref interruptions. I think it takes away from the rawness of the fight. So no, I don't agree with the "stand 'em up rule" to keep things exciting or anything like that.
But what really pissed me off was thatDan Miragliotta decided he could make up rules and give Silva a warning for running around? I know there is a rule concerning timidity but I don't think this applies here at all -- it's a fight, let the fighters fight. Refs are using their power too much and this fight was a good example.

What does everyone think of this fight?

I think one of the last fighters who should be warned for running is Silva. What can he do if his opponents don't come to fight? As great as he is I think his days as a PPV leader are close to over and it has nothing to do with his abilities. His fights aren't contests as his opponents don't want to mix it up with him for fear of getting KTFO.
The refs are put in a tough position in his fight because they want to see a fight also yet have to be careful not to overstep their boundaries. It's a lose/lose situation for the refs.

Silva was paid to fight and he didn't do it. No one got to watch a real fight that night. As explosive as Silva is he didn't go after Maia and that's why everyone is pissed. Instead he did a lot of dancing and other bullshit in the ring. He's the champion, he did good defending, but if Maia isn't the aggressor then he should have been and if Silva lost fighting then ask for a rematch.

I agree with you about Mirgliotta and him standing people up. Its almost like he just wants to make the crowd pleased. But I think he was right in taking a point away from Silva. It wasn't just for running around, it was because Silva was running behind him, almost to stay away from Maia.

Your point on Mirigliotta (in general) is 100% correct
I think he stands guys up becuase he came from that Strikeforce and those other jerkoff promotions that would always stand people up...It is very annoying
