As ive stated before in some of my previous posts i am 17.  I just lost 1400 to a bookie after chasing my losses.

My parents dont even know about this but after seeing my recent report card, and knowing my gambling habits for the past few years.  They have decided to take me to a ga meeting.

I keep telling them im not going, but they keep telling me that i have no choice.

My parents said they will be in a seperate room from me, so il be in a room with all the other gamblers im guessing.

Do i share my stories about this bookie i lost 1400 to?..I still dont want my parents finding out.  I dont know what i should do.  Should i go?

You should go, and you should participate.

Be honest - and quit now.

You are on a road that will lead you to much unhappiness in life.

Some can do this, and some cant - you are clearly in the cant right now.

but vanzack..dont you do this for a living?...I dont think your unhappy because you know the right way to gamble

I feel like if i set a bankroll, bet lik 2-3 % on games i was really confident in...I would be fine.  This is why i dont want to stop.

I know i cant get rich off this, but...it will satisfy my entertainment as well as win me a few dollars if im smart.

People become unhappy and start to lose their families because they chase and become dillusional with betting

Am i wrong?...

Not everyone can be a doctor.  Not everyone can be a physicist.  Not everyone can be on the PGA tour.

Im telling you to stop gambling because if at 17 you lost more than you can afford, and are lying to your family - you are in for a rough ride.

You state that you can gamble properly - BUT YOU DONT - doesnt that tell you something?

And if you state you have a need for "entertainment" - YOU ARE IN DEEP TROUBLE.

I really cant stand gambling most of the time.  I have ZERO need to gamble for entertainment.  I am a machine.

If you cant do this (and dont lie about it), you are probably in trouble.

This is what i want to do though from now on...set a bankroll and bet only a small percentage.

This wont lead to unhappiness for me.  I fully understand that chasing can destroy lives.

I just want the little bit of entertainment to enjoy a game and im good.  So betting 2-3% of a bankroll could do the trick.

My gameplan for ga tonight is just going to be to talk about some of my past experiences, and thats it.  Im not going to stop because i dont really want to stop.  I need a little bit of action to watch a game.  I just cant go crazy

Dude, at your age you should be looking for tail and thinking about what you plan on doing for the rest of your life. Do you plan on living in your parents' basement 20 years from now or do you plan on making something of yourself?

Go to the meeting, stop gambling, get yourself some box and get your act together man!

Also, the fact that you don't know to put an apostrophe in between the 'n' and the 't' in "don't" means you need to start hitting the books a little harder.

Well, regardless of if i like to watch a game and have a wager on it or not...I dont think betting 2-3% of a bankroll is going to get me into a lot of trouble.

Is it a crime to like to watch a game and have a bet on it?

Will this thinking really get me into deep garbage when i get older?..

Listen doofus - I would lay 50-1 that you wont be able to bet 2-3% of your bankroll.

Its a great plan, but in this thread you have laid out the profile of almost every degenerate gambler there is.  I would take my chances that you are not the one in a thousand that is diffferent.

If you need to have entertainment, whack off.  Entertainment gamblers are losing gamblers, its just a matter of whether you are a mild loser or a loser that ends up in a dumpster.

Bankroll?!? What bankroll?!? You're a 17 year old kid! You mean the money your grandmother sends you on your birthday? You mean your 50 dollar a week allowance? The 5 dollars an hour you're making working part time after school at Burger King? For Christ's sakes, get your head out of your behind.

if at 17 your parents still tell you what to do you have bigger problems than bank roll management.  Start your life kid the earlier you make goals the better.

Get a part time job, darn a co-worker, get high, do something productive at 17.  Before real life starts.

Youth once again wasted on the young.

goto the meeting and be honest. Its gamblers anonymous Your parents won't find out what you share, hence the anonymous part. Maybe after hearing some of the horror stories you will come to your senses and stop gambling for a while.
