What are some resources you look at every time before you cap a game? I know I look at the matchups page here on covers. But is there any other essential websites or stats i should be looking at before i wager?
thanks.

HI,
What are some resources you look at every time before you cap a game? I know I look at the matchups page here on covers. But is there any other essential websites or stats i should be looking at before i wager?
Most people neglect to include officiating into the equation. Officiating matters a great deal because it can greatly influence the outcome of a game. The NBA and college football are prone to have very poor officiating. so be careful!

Fading the public is complete and utter BS. I don't know anyone who makes a profit fading the public. Hell, the public is on fire this year! Even excluding this year, I believe the public to be 50% bettors. If you tail them, you'll lose money. If you fade them, you'll lose money.
Look, if you aren't very good at capping find someone with a proven record and simply tail all of their plays - don't pick and choose which games to tail. If you can find a guy going 58%, play every single on of his plays.
Also, I like to skim the forums looking for POY's. AMD had one with CMU just last night and it hit. A couple of guys on here had ISU the other night as their POY and it hit. There are some good cappers here and if they say one game is such a sure thing that it's their GOY or POY, then I'll listen to what they have to say. Even my NFL POY last year hit. For these guys to call something a POY, there must be something they see that I don't and I'll respect their opinion. Just be sure you review the previous posts so that you're not following some n00b looking for attention.
Another great place to find picks is in the contests area. I'm in an NCAAF contest by pucku and the top guys have been on fire, going 58% and higher. I'm even in 23rd place or something after going 5-0 last week. I always check my opponents' picks before locking in a play for real money. I value their opinions greatly. Guys such as birdshat, brady-something, etc.
The bottom line is that if you are just starting to cap, please don't risk your hard earned money on your limited knowledge of the games. Write your plays on a piece of paper and see how you do, but seek more knowledgeable people for advice when it comes to real money. After all, you wouldn't just open up the Wall Street Journal and start picking stock investments without seeking a professional's advice, would you?
