Holiday Shopping Soars 18% Over Last Year
CBS Evening News: Despite A Lousy Economy, Millions More Shoppers Kicked Off The Holiday Shopping Season link
I've heard less unrealistic numbers where shopping numbers were 'up' from last season(like +6%, +3%, +2%)
The survey says 172 million shoppers visited stores and websites this weekend - up 15 million from last year, and the average shopper spent more than $372, up 7.2 percent from a year ago.
something doesn't add up here. Everywhere retail i've seen/heard is DEAD. you can park near the front of the mall, and i've even noticed traffic has dropped ALOT despite gas prices dropping ALOT. how do they dream up these silly numbers? And why is this lie sold by the news media? What do you see in your local area? Are alot of stores going bankrupt? Is there less traffic than normal(remember theres 3 weeks till christmas? Unemployment is skyrocketing. Or am i wrong. is it business as usual for everybody? I question everything, but right now the shit they're selling is hard to buy
. 18% rise in holiday shopping? I'd be quicker to believe that 18% is january unemployment numbers
