FSU put itself on probation. NCAA has done nothing.
This incident wasn't a football or even athletic problem. It was a university problem. The entire online class cheated.

Typical in the fact that FSU has become infamous for all types of problems in the past, and it looks like these problems continue to exist. And yes, it does affect the athletic program because this involved STUDENT/ATHLETES! Read this part:
A football squad with a history of off-field problems will join other Florida State sports teams on self-imposed probation for two years, and some teams will lose scholarships due to an academic cheating scandal.
The university said in a report Thursday that about 60 student-athletes also have or will lose some eligibility. Two staff members, a tutor and learning specialist, have been fired. No additional dismissals were listed in an investigatory report.
The cheating occurred mainly through online testing for a single music history course in the fall of 2006 and the spring and summer semesters last year. It included staffers helping students on the test and in one case asking one athlete to take it for another.
So yes, to me it does sound like athletics are involved in this.

#10 Posted: 2/27/2008 10:01:37 AM Funny how people can imagine that there school is not pulling the same kinda stuff.. the amount of money involved in college athletics will cause problems like these to continue.. Just like this pryor commit its all about who will throw the most money at him or who will bend the furthest... thats why he is waiting so long |

So because an athlete was involved its the athletics dept. problem? So if a bunch of people form a gang and start to steal cars and some of the people are FSU students is the University to blame? Like I said, it was a university problem, though actually just a class problem. And again, FSU reported this itself to the NCAA and put itself on probation. Sounds like a pretty good institution to me.
Please show me how FSU is any different off the field than other D1 colleges? Rather than just going with the saying Criminoles, because its catchy, please back up your insult.
I am waiting...

Says the guy who is a Nebraska fan. If that ain't the pot calling the kettle jet black, I don't know what is. Tom Osbourne has to be one of the worst people in college football for the horrendous crimes he swept under the rug. |
