Is this guy just not the luckiest/smartest guy in college football right now? He is fortunate enough to have his team get their brains beat in during a year in which there are a bunch of NFL openings. Turns the national championship beat down into a raise and extension for himself.

Nice work by him and his agent.

he won at grand valley state,
he won at central mich,
he won at cincy,
he's winning at notre dame.

nothing lucky about it.

body of work over the last 12-13 years is amazing.

that's why the eagles came calling and he parlayed into a pay raise by notre dame.

most top college coaches doing this now.

I've followed him since he was at Grand Valley. I'm not saying he is lucky to win. I'm saying he is lucky that there were so many NFL vacancies this year when he happened to lead Notre Dame to the title game.

If there were only 3 NFL vacancies he wouldn't be in such demand for a job and might not be able to leverage Notre Dame into a raise. If the Pitt kicker makes that FG he isn't in that game. If K-State and Oregon don't lose.....etc, etc.

I'm not saying he wouldn't be in demand regardless, but to have so many NFL opportunities in a year that he happened to have a lot of things go right until the title game is quite fortunate.

Kelly will land on his feet with a bunch of money and recruiting got very easy this year. He'll hang with the catholic network. No one can touch him there. Good coach.
