I've followed him since he was at Grand Valley. I'm not saying he is lucky to win. I'm saying he is lucky that there were so many NFL vacancies this year when he happened to lead Notre Dame to the title game.
If there were only 3 NFL vacancies he wouldn't be in such demand for a job and might not be able to leverage Notre Dame into a raise. If the Pitt kicker makes that FG he isn't in that game. If K-State and Oregon don't lose.....etc, etc.
I'm not saying he wouldn't be in demand regardless, but to have so many NFL opportunities in a year that he happened to have a lot of things go right until the title game is quite fortunate. |
