#1 Posted: 12/10/2012 2:10:34 PM like i said a few weeks ago, no one will touch this guy for at least a few more years,
western kentucky does not count as a real job for a guy with this stature,
no BCS conference program wanted anything to do with this guy so he had no choice but to go to western kentucky,
what a huge demotion, WOW |

#2 Posted: 12/10/2012 2:27:04 PM what a joke by WKU. Does anybody have class anymore? or is it as long as you win 8 games you can be a horrible human ebing with no morals. How does he walk into homes and recruit? How does he tell his players to do the right thing when he never does the right thing. Screw you WKU I hope C.Michigan wipes the floor with them |

#3 Posted: 12/10/2012 4:17:52 PM packers i cannot blame WKU,
petrino, minus the scandal, is a top 10-13 coach in the country, he's that good. the things he did at louisville and arkansas were terrific, taking both of them to BCS bowl games, something neither program had done before, i believe,
i can tell you that petrino's agent or whoever probably reached out for nearly every open job except arkansas, i'm talking wisky, cincy, so florida, all of them,
but western kentucky is the only place that wants him,
no BCS conf school will touch him, not even the non-AQ mid majors want him,
this is a HOME RUN hire for western kentucky,
he'll stay there 3 years, take their program to new heights, then bolt for a BCS conf school that is ready for him as the stink off the coed on his motorcycle scandal will be pretty much gone |

#4 Posted: 12/10/2012 4:46:05 PM kinda thought he would be an OC in the NFL for a year or two.....can't blame WKU......although he ain't gonna stay so maybe should be questioned some.... he's better than top 10....
see anything strange about this list......? *a good enough top 5 HC list......(ability wise)
*Saban....................ALABAMA C Kelly....................OREGON U Meyer..................OHIO ST B Kelly....................NOTRE DAME B Petrino................WESTERN KENTUCKY

#5 Posted: 12/10/2012 5:04:46 PM I agree he is a top 10 coach, I just wonder how he can recruit anymore. But then again I don't know how he recruited at Arkansas given his history. |

i would say Spurrier is top 10, also Les Miles,
Petrino is not a sure fire top 5, it's very hard to separate them except for Saban at a clear #1 because of the last 4 yrs,
#'s 2-10 or so are interchangeable

good point man, urban is right there, but i put saban ahead of him, and at #1 because:
1) 3 nat'l titles while in the best conf SEC, and another 1 coming on jan 7
2) urban went undefeated in mwc and a terrible big 10 this yr
3) urban bolted on fla when the going got tough (after tebow left)
4) saban lost most of guys from 09 bcs title team and then two yrs later in 2011 he fields one of the best defenses of all time, loses 6 key guys off that D and is in the BCS title gm again |

#14 Posted: 12/11/2012 10:23:31 PM Everyone laughed at Gus Malsahn for taking a Sun Belt job. One year later he's the HC in the SEC. It seemed to work for Hugh Freeze as well, another SEC HC from the Sun Belt.
I think that Petrino will be just fine. The Sun Belt Conference is on the rise. Just look at what their teams accomplished this year.
Arkansas State averaged over 480 ypg on the way to a conference title.
Louisiana-Monroe won at Arkansas of the SEC.
Western Kentucky won at Kentucky of the SEC.
Middle Tennessee won at Georgia Tech.
Louisiana- Lafayette was leading Florida 20-13 with 1:41 to go in Gainesville before giving up 14 points including a blocked punt returned for a td with 00:02 left as they lost 27-20.
North Texas gave Kansas State their closest home game of the year, losing 35-21.
Troy had two different SEC teams on the ropes before finally losing 55-48 at Tennessee and 30-24 at Mississippi State.
They will lose FIU and North Texas next year but will get FBS new comers Georgia State and Texas State who beat Houston 30-13 and hung 55 on Louisiana Tech. I would think that the Sun Belt will expand to 12 teams in 2014 (maybe Georgia Southern and App.State?) and have a conference championship game.
Maybe this is not a "Big Time" coaching job but there is no shame in coaching at Western Kentucky to get yourself back into the FBS scene.
And if things don't get better for Charlie Weiss at Kansas he could paint his body red and join Petrino in Bowling Green as that Hilltopper mascot thing. |

#15 Posted: 12/11/2012 10:41:06 PM Sun Belt gets better every yr and this can't hurt. Love it.
Also have potential with Petrino for
Secretary Gate
Back Door Gate
Hooker Gate
Orgy Gate
Etc.
Can't put a price on that |
