How in the heck does N. Illinois get into a BCS bowl game? They have played teams with a combined record of 62-93, 8 of the 13 teams they played have 8 or more losses, they lost to Iowa which is the worst team in the Big 10, they beat Kansas by 7 early in the season before Kansas started playing better late in the season. Oklahoma should be really pi***d they got bumped for a team with that kind of resume. No wonder there QB is so high in stats, anybody would if you only play 4 teams a year with a winning record, its just a better garbage team beating a worse garbage team thats all it is. The BCS really dropped the ball on this one, they should only play a half of a game against Florida St., its going to be a blowout, N. Illinois won't stop Florida St. one time and this will be the biggest blow out of the bowl season. Prediction Florida St. 63 N. Illinois 3. Take it to the bank.

Oklahoma wanted to play in the Cotton Bowl.  This saves the BCS some if Oklahoma had declined the BCS Bowl.

OK did not want to face Florida or Florida St.  They wanted Manziel in the Cotton Bowl.

And the MAC can use this BCS money a lot more than the B12 did.  Each of the 13 MAC schools will get about 1.5 mil.  Their whole athletic budget (for all sports) is probably around 3 mil per year or less.

I'm not talking about money here, i'm talking the quality of a game, i can think of a bunch of different schools that you can put in there with a better resume than N. Illinois, if your talking oh well lets just put a team in there so there conferance can get some extra money why dont you just put in some divison 2 school to play Florida St. Bcs bowl games should be the best teams in the nation playing each other, not some team that is 12-1 with a schedule like that, its just not right nor fair to the other deserving teams out there. I can tell you the ratings are going to suck because its pointless for either teams fans to keep watching it after halftime because of the score, maybe they will take it off after halftime and put a re-run of house or something like that.

My thoughts exactly. Iowa isn't the worst team in the Big 10. They are bad...don't get me wrong but not the worst.

I don't know if they really deserve to be there or not but they are. It's funny how in March, we embrace the cinderella story teams and in football they get bashed. I understand it's completely different because of the # of teams involved and the money or whatever but jeesh...NIU had a pretty damn good year.

***Response to this post = cuz they didn't play anyone!

............. it is what it is.......... why are you so pissed anyway? Your team one of the teams who got ousted by NIU or something?

FIrst of all, the loss at Iowa does not tell the tape on this team as it was Lynch's first start.  He has improved immensely each week since.  Your analysis of a 60 point blowout couldnt be more wrong (as there was no analysis)   I see NIU covering the two touchdown spread and keeping this close as they will play with fire.

Ur an idiot

If you think N. Illinois is going to keep it close ur the idiot, FSU is alot bigger and faster on both sides of the ball, N. Illinois is going to get worn down, the only team that N. Illinois played this year thats in a big conference was Kansas, they only won by 7, KANSAS THEY WEN'T 1-11. FSU is no Kansas there a whole hell of alot better, u say there going to play with fire well thats great, still isn't going to matter FSU will steamroll N. Illinois. Also Oklahoma St. big over Purdue.

You can only play who is on your schedule.  I agree NIU on paper is over matched, but FSU barely beat a Georgia Tech team last week that I do believe NIU could beat.  So who knows.  Purdue losing, as well as all big 10 bowl teams.....now there's something that seems a sure bet.  :)

I do NOT think NIU should be in a BCS bowl game. This is not the Boise, Utah, TCU teams of the past the ran the table and trounced most of their opponents. OU is way more deserving. However, with all that said, I believe the Huskies can beat FSU. Lynch is the real deal if you have watched him at all. The Noles really haven't impressed me on the defensive side of the ball like they should, especially with the type of opponents they have played. Until I get to watch the best teams in the country play each for 3-4 weeks in a playoff I will not be satisfied. I can't even imagine the excitement level of watching the best teams in the country play each other in a playoff system. I have been to BCS games, and NC games and I truly believe these atmospheres would be so great for CFB. And not to mention the $$$ they would generate.

I don't think N.Illinois should be in the BCS either. There's at least 6-8 other schools better than them that aren't in the BCS, but that's how things are. Personally, I think if FSU is motivated they win by 24+, but how motivated can they be against a MAC team? On the other hand N.Illinois is definitely good enough to hang close if FSU doesn't care & gets sloppy.

Pitt at least beat 2 other bowl teams & played ND even at South Bend. How about C.Michigan, Duke, Rice, SMU, Purdue & Air Force? They beat 3 bowl teams between the 6 of them! Pitt's opponent Ole Miss only beat one bowl team as well, although they play in the SEC so I'll cut them some slack. I've seen them play a few times & with the exception of the Texas game they've done pretty well.
