Not kicking the XP point at the end of the Florida-FSU game?

It's a rule to kick it, but they don't enforce it most of the time.  I know that screwed over someone, on some kind of bet.

2nd half bet - FSL ML & Over 20.0

The XP would have given me a push on the ML

Maybe the refs had florida ml i dont understand a rules a rule and they enforce it any other time ive never seen that

after the seattle/green bay fiasco with the simultaneous catch play, i heard the announcer say that in the nfl it is mandatory to kick every xp, but he said that was not the case in college. not sure if this is true or not.

It is standardized, the rule is to always attempt the try.  But when both teams leave the field, and you have fans run on the field, not many refs have the balls to clear the field and bring both teams back on the field for an extra point that can have no effect on the outcome of the game.

Article 3.c

"If a touchdown is scored during a down in which time expires, the period is extended for the try."

In college you don't kick the XP unless it will change the outcome

RULE 8 SECTION 3 ARTICLE 2.A.

Opportunity to Score

ARTICLE 2. A try is an opportunity for either team to score one or two points while the game clock is stopped after a touchdown. It is a special interval in the game which, for purposes of penalty enforcement only, includes both a down and the “ready’’ period that precedes it.

a. The ball shall be put in play by the team that scored a six-point touchdown. If a touchdown is scored during a down in which time in the fourth period expires, the try shall not be attempted unless the point(s) would affect the outcome of the game.

I know in the NFL you have to kick the extra point. The college refs just want to go home.
