Coming off a 2-1 week. Stanford easy cover with a win as a 21 pt dog and Utah State GOW win as they dominated the first half then let La Tech back into. My loss was Tulsa which depending on the line you got was a win or a loss. I played it 3 times and won 2 and lost 1. The ML was a win and if you played it on Sat it was 1 1/2. The game should have easily covered as Tulsa dominated the game with over 200 yards of more offense and missed a PAT and got a chip shot fg blocked???
Going into that game everyone was talking about Stanford's defense which I said in my writeup since they led the nation in sacks that they could get in the backfield and interrupt Oregon running game. They also were able to play a base defense instead of selling out on the run. I feel sad for Oregon because the reason they lost that game was Chip Kelly plain and simple. You could tell early in the game that Stanford was getting through and crashing on both ends to prevent them running in between the tackles. He goes for it on 4th down in the 1st qtr?? Why? You are at home and Stanford is playing a rd freshman on his first road start. It was evident after that first drive by Hogan that the only passes he could make were 3 step in routes and screen plays. Its why after the first score they shut them out until end of the game. I have never seen a coach get a 15 yard penalty assessed to him in the 1st qtr supposedly because a lineman was downfield that was after Stanford 1st score. Oregon's defense completely shutdown Stanford and got 3 turnovers and Oregon still lost. You could just tell that Mariota was a little out of sorts and instead of trying to counter that Stanford speed with some misdirection and reverses he just tried to impose their will on them and it never worked. That 4th down call was indicitive of the entire game. His other 4th down call where they are at Stanford 40 and Mariota rushes a throw. I felt Kelly was a better offensive coach and would have made adjustments at worst at half and come out and use Thomas and Barner in space to creat havoc and it never happened. So now Oregon how had won 3 straight Pac 10 titles have win at OSU and hope FL and ND lose. Not going to happen.
Game of the Week FL +8 over FSU
Its funny how I keep reading how FL is a fraud. I want everyone to go look at FL schedule and FSU schedule and tell me which is more impressive. There is a reason FL is 4th in the BCS and FSU is 10th. FL BY FAR has the best wins out of ANY TEAM IN THE COUNTRY. They went on the road and beat A&M. They beat LSU and rolled SC. FSU biggest win in the ACC which is like the Poor Mans Big 10 is Clemson. This is the same FSU team that COLLAPSED against NCS up 16-0 to lose 17-16. Didnt Clemson just hang 60 on NCS. Look at the Sagarin Ratings FSU IS 19TH with the 93rd rated SOS while FL has the 19th which is 2nd to only OSU in the top 10. FSU hasn't shown me ANYTHING all year long that they can compete with a team like FL. I always go with the team with the better defense and FL has the better defense. If you factor in SOS, FL has the better offense. Anyone can put up 40 a game in the ACC. If you average 25 with FL schedule its like scoring 50 a game against FSU schedule. Driskell is back who is 2nd on the team in rushing and will give FSU plenty of problems. I am 4-0 on the GOW and other than playing at Doak. FL has all the intangibles to gut out another win. Wrong team is favored. FL Straight up!
