couldn't agree more,,, and I'm a picky prick when it comes to announcers....

Known around the industry to be pretty horrible.  Just yells and screams at every moment. Basically everything they teach you not to do in announcing school.

Yeah, I'm going to have to be a contrarian here. Used to love the guy. Thought he made everything exciting.

Then CBS let him go and I wondered why. Now I realize he's actually kind of annoying. Watch a few games when he's announcing and you'll realize he's nothing special.

He just screams to damn much over nothing.

I've gotta disagree here. I think Ed annoying as hell. Not saying much though. I think every announcer is annoying outside of Jim Nantz

He is fun to listen to but he is biased on his games...very obvious who he roots for....he likes USC on this games..when Ducks scores, he does not get very excited but when Trojans scores...he goes all over the place.

I agree, it's amusing for the 1st half but gets overbearing as the game goes on. Just like Dick Vitale.

Love me some Gus Johnson, can't believe anyone in this thread thinks he is anywhere near as annoying as Dickie V. And the comparison to Jim Nantz???? Nantz is great for my Sunday afternoon golf snooze!!

It's kinda like when you first taste of piece of sweet cake. You're like ohhhh that's good. After you eat a few more bites you're like ehhh, I don't really like this anymore.
