Penn State - 8 vs. Navy - remember a couple of years ago when you could make money betting on Temple because they were good and nobody realized it? Now you can make money betting against Temple because they aren't good, and people haven't caught on yet.
Virginia +17.5 at TCU - I had to bite at this number. Unlike last week, Virginia should be able to keep the Frogs under 200 yards rushing in the 1st Quarter. Maybe. Frogs looked like they were shaving points last week. Let's hope they still are. Nice 11:00am kick should take edge of home crowd.
USC - 16 vs. California - Death, taxes, and USC beating the piss out of Cal.
Illinois -2.5 vs. La Tech - LA Tech gave up 700 yeards to Houston, which spent most of its game against UCLA looking unfamiliar with the sport in which it was engaged; impending clash of uniform colors is so terrifying that fans willl be issued smoked glass upon entrance.
Bowling Green +19.5 (waiting for potential better number before playing) at PolyTech - I wasn't all over Pitt last week because I thought Pitt was any good.
Arkansas -7 vs. Rutgers - please.
Rice ML/+3 vs. Marshall - Rice will win. How you decide to get paid is up to you.
Vanderbilt +16 at Georgia - Vandy will play this close; I don't know why either.
San Jose +3.5 at San Diego St. - I try and make a habit of betting the better team catching points.
Tulane +17.5 vs. Mississippi - there won't be 40 people in the Superdome when this one kicks at 11:00am. Ole Miss fans will still be up drinking, and Tulane doesn't have any.
There should be a gift coming in the 1-AA ranks for those of you with 5Dimes accounts. It's not up yet, though.

Brown, Molly Elizabeth, 18 of Iowa City, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium at 1544 hours. Brown was passed out in the women’s restroom. Brown defecated down her leg. Brown blew .170 PBT

I really think Virginia sucks something fierce, but you might be getting in on a good number because it's rumored that TCU's best back, Waymon James, is done for the year with a knee injury. There isn't a back on the roster nearly as explosive or well-rounded as Waymon.
However the Cavs' secondary is very young and Casey Pachall is the truth (when he's not trying to run with the ball ). Best of luck MaineRoad; always a great read.

Cal is one of my pet teams. Both my kids have Oskie key chains hanging from their ceiling fans. I have a picture of Memorial Stadium right next to me. I even ran right into that douchbag from the Counting Crows (or maybe it's the Black Crows; I know there are crown invovled) at a Cal basketball practice once. If I knew how to stage a sit-in and/or spoke better Mandarin, I'd practically be a Cal alum.

Is anyone on Covers NOT either from Alabama or a Bama fan these days?
If you can't beat em...
I am a TCU alum, just had a soft spot for Bama since I was a kid due to relatives. I was there for the home loss to UCF in 2000 AND the loss to Monroe in 07. In fact, if I knew how to bang my cousin or speak better Southern Dummy, I'd practically be a Bama alum.

GL this week Maine. Glad to see you posting a card as you are one of maybe 4 or 5 people I sign on to read. My only disagreement is with BGSU. Kinda think they are in for an ass kicking this weekend, but then again VT hasn't shown it's capable of scoring enough to cover this kind of spread.

Nah, the game I'm waiting on is an all-1-AA encounter. I'll be interested to see what line they throw up on the Citadel/NCSU, though. The Citadel has been playing out of its collective mind. I'm guessing we see something like 12.5, but you never know. 17 or so would be nice.
Gardner Webb is up here this weekend. I've yet to meet a Pitt fan who has gotten the name right. One of them told me it was "Wagner," and another called it "Gardener's Webb," which sounds like a children's story.

Was hoping to catch 3, or at least get a 2.5 I could buy up, on Syracuse, but that line has moved the other way. SU should win, but it does seem like the sort of game where having a FG in my pcoket might come in handy.
VPI is moving the other way too. Was hoping for a +21 on the buy, but that's looking unlikely.
If Iowa gets to 14, I'm in. CMU is laughably bad. It's a 15 at the moment. 17-3 would beat me. I hope Ms. Brown doesn't re-soil herself in any event.
GAM, thanks for stopping by. If it's any consolation, I disagree with a bunch of my picks too.

I remember you saying awhile back that the Pitt fans are not the most intelligent bunch.
Only possible disagreement for me is on TCU. If the Frogs aren't shaving again, this should be a stomping. Wahoos look painfully slow.

Only real big disagreement is Virginia. As long as TCU isn't point shaving again, this should get ugly. I can definitely see a 30+ point win there. Good luck this week Maine

Yeah, but I was kind of stealing money even being in that game, given how the Heels started. I got nipped on BC as well, but that was another game where NU should have had me done and dusted well before the final TD did me in. It wasn't a card I liked much. Frankly, neither is this one. There really isn't a game I love all weekend. I'd like to love USC, but I thought they were a bit of a fraud before last weekend. Still, they generally wax Cal, and the Bears likely shot their load last week. Maynard can't play well twice in a row, can he?
The Pitt ML was nice. The UL-M ML would have been nicer. Not sure I ever felt better about a 17point dog.
