#1 Posted: 8/4/2012 10:00:17 AM You know guys i looked at all the wk 1 lines and i haven't seen a game i'll bet. Haven't even seen any good teaser combinations either. I'm not stupid but when i look at these numbers these games could go either way. Can BYU destroy Wsh.State? Sure. Could Leach's team play it close and possibly pull the upset? Yeah. Can Mich.State beat boise by 2 scores? Yeah. Boise could pull the upset etc etc.
I'm not insulting your intelligence i know every game is a 50/50 propisition but i have no clue about any of these wk 1 games. I'll see what the totals will end up being but probably no bets for me wk 1. Which i know you were all waiting like a kid at christmas for my wk 1 picks So unless some things change/get good o'u numbers as far as bets go i guess i'll see you wk 2 Your thoughts? |

I don't really agree with your Boise assertion. They lose everything that makes them great, namely their QB and offensive coordinator but even their rush defense, which was outstanding last year, and their ability to move the ball on the ground will be gone as well. In addition, they return only 3 starters combined on both sides of the trenches and as the well known saying goes, that's where games are won. What does Boise retain you may ask? Well they'll keep their lower quality athletes, which take time to develop, time they won't have being as this will be the first game of the season, against a top ranked defense no less. Michigan St. loses a lot on the offensive side of the ball as well but at least they keep a beast of a back in Bell and return 4/5 of their starting line. Lastly they return both the team's punter and kicker. Even if you literally knew nothing about either team whilst analyzing this match, you would have to favor Michigan St. greatly. At -4, which is what I got the line at, this was the best game on the board week 1. |

#5 Posted: 8/7/2012 4:40:01 PM All the games in wk 1 and none of them you like? Really?
Week 1 is the easiest to bet, imo. |

Boise St. does lose a lot on both sides of the ball. But the one thing people are not factoring in when they are handicapping this game is their coach Petersen, who I think is one of the best in the country, and a guy that always gets his team ready to play when Boise has a long time off. They always do well when they play a bowl game or play a big name opponent in week 1. However you can't ignore the fact they do lose a lot so this will be a no play for me as I can see either team winning. |

I hear you on that but even a great coach has to have something to work with. |

#9 Posted: 8/7/2012 6:31:58 PM you sound like broken record talking about how great the Boise coach is...duh we all know that and so are a lot of others BUT if you won games based soley on how good a coach was then Alabama would win it every year not every couple years because great players make great coaches even better, every coach goes on a slide and Boise is due, similar to how Gonzaga burst on the scenes in cbb and for a 3-4 stretch was the elite non-major school, paving the way for other schools and now they are still relavant and household name in cbb but not dominant like they were when the first came around...same thing happening to boise |
