Received the death penalty. For the people who dont think this is enough, just sit back and really think about it. This program is finished. Was it the right thing? Not for me to decide. But it is now a fact that ALL Penn S.T fans and alum must live with.
There is NO way these guys rebound from this anytime soon. Hell, the sanctions are so bad I would guess realistically that it would take maybe 20 to 30 years to rebound, if they rebound at all.
The players, coaches and anyone tied with the athletic program are gone if they have any sense. How or why would you stay? It's a sad sad situation and a embarrassing one for college athletics.
I hope the victims and family's from these tragedy's can find some type of healing. I pray for healing and peace. As a father and human being in general, I hurt.
God Bless

kind of surprised penn state signed off on this without the others going to trial yet.
some in penn state BOT said those that signed off did not even negotiate deal, they just said ok.
penn state paid 6.5 million to basically f themselves, no way the punishment would have been severe if they did not hire freeh.
dont think you will see many transfers from the jrs and srs, if it was winter of offseason then yes, but kind of late now. you generally dont see that in these cases from upper classmen anyway.
it will be a difficult next decade, but it is what it is. its time to move on and penn staters can quit whining and move on. as i have said, after the freeh report they get what they deserve, all these sanctions and stuff dont help anyone, but they brought it on themselves in more ways that one, both with the cover up, then with the hiring of the freeh group.
nothing changes with education you can still receive at penn state, and that is what makes me money and that is what a school is for.

Your right, pretty much the death penalty , I think the Big 10 boots them also, with all the conference realignment, Big Ten football will look at this as liability, and it they can, wouldn't surprise me in the least.
The Ninty Lions are now a MAC team

It may not be the death penalty but it the effect will pretty much be the same. It's like a guy who doesn't die in an auto accident and gets a brain injury. To all intents and purposes, he's dead.

I hope the players realize to get the fuck out of this Cesspool of a bullshit program and cover-up massacre of many young victims.... And shame on the new PSU staff try to lie and bullshit these players in staying. There are no core values associated with this program.

The NCAA should ban the new staff from even be allowed to speak to and attempt to sway these players in staying this season....give the players two weeks with many neutral 3rd party professionals to assist them in this career crossroads, along with and open combine-type, emergency recruiting week for any college to offer roster spots

They will take in on the chin for the next few years no doubt. But this isn't SMU or some other mid-level program here. This is Penn St. They're a super-heavyweight and one of the most storied, powerful and proudest traditions in all of college football. NTM a damn near bottomless well of resources and support.
They will rise again.

Penn St will remain in the Big 10.

Do you guys actually agree with the sanctions the NCAA decided on here?
NCAA is a total joke with these sanctions. When this organization starts punishing the actual culprits at schools when these wrong doings happen, then I might not think they are a joke.
This isn't even related to anything on the field, the players, or wins or losses. The coach covered up for some creepy fuck pedophile, how that turns into this penalty, I have no clue. They should sweep out any Penn St staff/faculty involved at all with what happened with that incident as the punishment and let the legal system handle the rest.

I agree that it is wrong to punish current players, those who had nothing to do with the awful crimes committed of past sickos. There must be a better way to deal with this but I have no idea what that would be. And if theyre taking away a statue and wins from the old coaches record and off of the big10 trophy, then remove his name completely from the university and buildings that have his name.

The statue going down, no bowl appearances for the next 4 years, and scholarships taken away, I get all that. But to erase the record from the last 13 yrs. just doesn't sit well. That's excessive. A total slap in the face of those players from that timespan that had nothing to do with the scandal.

I think the DP would had been better. I rather close one year to knock down the stadium and rebuild it differently just to remove the bad memories. I would change the team name and open up the college program in 1-2 years afterwards. New uniforms, new team name.
The current penalties is a slow death. At this point, Penn State won't be able to come back for the next 10 years.
However, I think there should be more penalties on all of the individuals that were involved. I personally think that Sandusky, Paterno, Hurley, etc should cough up money and place them in the the charitable programs. These guys make millions per year. Their assets should be seized and then given back to the victims. That should replace the scholarships that were taken away to the present and future students.

"vacating" the wins for those years is ridiculous. the fact is those teams won the games and paterno was the head coach.
having a child molester, or serial killer, or drug kingpin on the staff doesn't have a damn thing to do with winning--the wins were not earned thru cheating or steroids or anything else that might have gained them an edge.
paterno is still the all-time winningest coach.
