Aggies to SEC ...

Question

"supposedly" done deal....with a better than zero chance of being announced Aug 22.....> they have to do it now to be able to to play in 2012

THIS IS NOT.....
an announcement or prediction to show you I'm in the know...
but a warning of a possible event (that many Aggie insiders feel to be true) that may effect the outcome of their games.....I wouldn't think too significantly now.... vs non-conf opponents ....SMU > Idaho...
**players might be more pumped up actually.....I think I might like SMU a little bit less...

* maybe won't matter much (handicapping wise) if it does happen.... but it would be very naive to think it won't matter at all ...> officiating on the Big 12 road....??

Aggies are ready to go....SEC officials no denials......and refusing interviews with local radio stations...seems to be more than just a rumor ....but who tf knows...Aggies have said that SEC might go with one odd # division.....that seems unlikely to me....whole thing maybe buncha crap......maybe they add Fla St after they beat OU's ass..

Wonder who else gets added. Florida State is the rumor, but I&#x27;m on the NC State bandwagon. The SEC usually adds to the middle, not the top, and North Carolina is the only Southeastern state without an SEC foothold (except for the parts of Virginia that are Southeastern).

This has been rumbled about since the day after Nebraska seceded and joined the Big 10....Good for you A@M  Are the Sooners gonna be next?Make that 2 conferences now Texas has destroyed....For those of you too young to know what I&#x27;m talking about, the other was the old Southwest conference before the formation of the Big 12.  It was stated then by the legend Tom Osborne that bringing in the Texass schools (yes I spelled that Texass) would be the eventual demise of the Big 8/12 as well. And that history would just repeat itself and turn the Big 12 into a Texas-centric conference....Smart people recognize a shitty situation and sinking ship before its too late....A little history for you young ins out there

Just to give you all a little bit more of the details. It is not a done deal yet, but Mike Slive (the SEC commissioner) first wants to get A&M in the loop. My understanding is once he has the Ags locked up he will add a 14th team. This will be a great move from both sides. For A&M, we end up in the premier football conference and for the SEC they get the Houston and Dallas market, a strong academic school and a national presence in the "non-revenue" sports. The last point isn't really worth much, but it is something.

Anyways, it sounds like the deal is not done yet, but I would say something really surprising would have to happen for it not to go through at this point. I am expecting to hear by the end of this weekend that the deal is done.

No one would dispute that, but in this case their ego might have unfortunately gotten the best of them.  Most of my Longhorn friends agree that the Longhorn Network was a bad idea.

&#xD;&#xA;Unlikely.  The SEC apparently is only looking at Texas A&amp;M from the Big 12-2.  OU is a great program, no denying it, but the Oklahoma market is not worth a lot and I think they may want to stay tied-in to OSU for political reasons and Texas for recruiting reasons.

SMU/UH to go to the Big 12. Both programs on the rise. Big TV markets. They could hold their own.  A&amp;M has lots of resources but football wise, they havent exactly torn it up.  They would be a whipping boy in thr SEC.

&#xD;&#xA;If UH does go to the Big 12, I think they will struggle.  They just don&#x27;t have the resources or facilities to keep up with most of the other schools.  If they can get the money to upgrade their facilities then perhaps they could be competitive.

The word in Norman is that OU and OSU is in emergency mode. They are have meetings with the Pac 12 commissioner.

when you clowns bail for the SEC and we either join the PAC 10 or go independent, we will be able to write our own ticket. Texas has national and international appeal...Texas A&M does not...you guys have not exactly blown the Big XII away during most of your tenure there...you will be hard-pressed to differentiate yourselves in the SEC west. In the meantime, Texas will win multiple National Championships in Football...From my perspective, Good Luck and Good Riddance to the Napoleon Complex Poster University - Texas A&M...Texas will be just fine...

I&#x27;d love to see this.  Hopefully FSU jumps to screw the ACC (assholes taking VT and BC over my Orangemen). Ironically FSU and A&#x2B;M are the respectable teams that actually get scheduled for out of conference games by SEC teams regularly.  I think they will be OK in it.

Probably will.  Replace No Tex and AM with BYU (good fit w a TV deal like the horns) and thats a conference that will keep its BCS bid.  Louisville might join it too.  As a Big East fan I&#x27;d actually rather LVille left so we can replace them with Memphis and upgrade the hoops.
