#1 Posted: 12/31/2010 2:36:43 AM BOWL RECORD: 13-10 SIDES: 7-9 TOTALS: 6-1
I got murdered Thursday with the plays on Kansas State and Tennessee hitting really hard (on the heels of the Missouri loss). Maybe you should fade my sides as the only thing working now are the totals.
MEINEKE CAR CARE BOWL SOUTH FLORIDA VS. CLEMSON
I am focusing on Clemson here. The Tigers have the 9th best scoring defense allowing 17.8 ppg. I have a hard time seeing SF generating scoring drives against this defense. Offensively, the Tigers could also be frustrated by the SF run defense as well. Clemson had the #86 scoring offense this year at 23.8 ppg but take away the 58 they put up on Presbyterian and they fall to #103 with 20.6 ppg. The best play here seems to be the under.
UNDER 40.5
SUN BOWL NOTRE DAME VS. MIAMI
The two big question marks are the performance of ND freshman QB Tom Rees and the Hurricanes game preparation under interim head coach Jeff Stoutland. I am going to lay the points and take the athletic advantage of the Hurricanes.
MIAMI -2.5
UNDER 47.0
LIBERTY BOWL GEORGIA VS. CENTRAL FLORIDA
Central Florida has been great ATS this season and I think that a lot of us on Covers made a lot of units backing them. But in this game, I like the size and speed of the Georgia O- and D-lines to win the line of scrimmage battle. Meanwhile, I would hope for the Bulldogs to score points with a vertical passing attack. Assuming CF is forced to double up on Green, this should open up space for the other Georgia receivers.
Two freshman QBs here means that we should expect the unexpected and backers of either side will be shaking their heads at times, but I like the Bulldogs here at less than 1 TD.
GEORGIA -6.5
CHICK-FIL-A BOWL SOUTH CAROLINA VS. FLORIDA STATE
SC (9-4 ATS and 9-4 O/U) played only 4 games that would have gone under the 54.5 total for this matchup whereas FSU (9-4 ATS and 5-8 O/U) played 8 games that ended below this game total. FSU brings a pass rush that generated 46 sacks, which I believe was tops in FBS. I think that this pass rush will disrupt Garcia, who has made some bad plays under pressure.
UNDER 54.5

We just have to shrug when these games turn out the way they do . . . can't forget that when our hearts are racing and excitement is high that these are just kids playing ball.
Still, those were tough losses for me!

#8 Posted: 12/31/2010 3:57:24 AM No problem. Yes, those picks were very good -- definitely had some luck involved today (such as the NC-Tennessee over) but at the end of the day, it is the 3-0 that will be remembered.
I posted the new bowl pick slate in a separate thread. Note that they are using a different capping service for these.
