Boise/vatech...huge write-up...2 plays....whew...

ok fellas...first post of the year...and i have been goinback and forth on it all week...and this latest line movement is just another wrench thrown into my thought process...but here goes..


I was on Boise the entire offseason as I assumed that VaTech would be the favorites and Boise would contend and then walk to the national championship...but then I saw the line and they were -3...Boise -3 and -3.5 as well in some places in basically a road game against a fellow top-10 team??....this would be no upset if Boise was favored and thats how the media set out for this game to be....and then I later discovered everyone is on Boise...mostly anyway....and now the line has flipped to Vatech -1, -1.5....so here is what is going on...

the more I feel i loved Boise...the more I realized that was my heart talking...it has always been fun to see Boise battle the BCS corps and if they lose here they are officially out for the season...people's perceptions are that they cannot see them out of contention so early against a fellow top-10 team that has been written off and not talked about yet they return mostly every offensive star and get another star RB back in Darren Evans to go along with Ryan Williams...Tyrod Taylor has two years experience under his belt....the defense is typical Hokie defense which should be up for the task...Kellen Moore is one sick dude at QB...but this game might just be out of reach...I mean...we are talking about a WAC team vs. an ACC team...not saying ACC is good...they are a terrible conference...but they are way better than the WAC...dont forget they beat Oregon last year IN BOISE!!....how many tough ROAD games did they win???...they are 6-4 in BOWL games...the games where they face a balanced team in some cases compared to them...I am taking the (new?) favorite to win this game...

for examples listed above such as VaTech's defense and Boise's isnt too shabby either....throw in the fact that its the first game so it may take a bit to get in rhythm...would note the first half under and second half over may be a good twist...but just like last year everyone was on the OVER with Boise's and Oregon's high-powered offenses had a combined 27 points...a 19-8 Boise victory....this boils down to a "cross your fingers the whole game" play....but I feel confident this is the right side....

wait isnt the vtech defense starting a lot of new faces this year?  boise returning 19 starters from last year?  heisman hopeful moore?  primetime game? possible run the table for national title?  boise st will come out pumped and will win tonight.

Its all about preparation and execution...athletically VaTech blows Boise out of the water on both sides of the ball...thats why im not nervous about the new faces on the defense...its gonna be very tough for this team to win in an NFL stadium that will be roaring for the Hokies a bit more than the Broncos...VaTech getting no love....but a team that plays one great team (Hokies) and then finishes the year against RoastBeef tech and against a Cosmetology Institute (jokes) should not be in the discussion to play for a championship....

how do you figure...do I need to go look at NFL rosters and document that the ratio for a player from Vatech to boise st is probably 5:1??....how am I wrong with that statement??

As far VT not getting any love, why do you think the line steamed from Boise St - 2 1/2 to 3 where it's at now VT - 2.  As far as the easy schedule, for the most part your right, but you must not have seen Boise St.'s last three games on the schedule,  Utah St,  @ Nevada,  and  Fresno St.  Not all power houses, but not roast beef tech or Cosmetology Inst.  If they're still ranked #3 or higher and are unbeaten at seasons end they'll most likely get a shot as long as #1 or #2 in the polls haves a loss. BOL on the play.

I would take a 1-loss SEC or Big 12 team than an undefeated WAC team any year...

On Tech big here as posted in other threads.  I don't think some people see the light in this game.  Tech rolls by 14-17

hawaii puts up 36 on USC loses by 13.  florida puts up only 34 on miami fricken ohio an wins by 22 lmao.  so your telling me florida would put up 80 on any wac team.  this gets better and better

USC put up 49 points...against a team that surprised them with the pistol offense....they played a totally different timezone and smoked them....they owned that game from the start....and USC didnt even play their best player Dillon Baxter....wait until you see him this week....they will smoke Virginia...they spent years trying to find an RB to replace Reggie Bush...they found someone better...

I think the fact the pollsters started Boise out # 3 is related to the body of work this group of Broncos have put together in the last three years.  A lot of these 20 returning starters, ( and a lot of the back ups) have like 2 loses, including Bowl games, in the last three years.  Obviously for those reasons they don't fit the mold of your run of the mill good Wac team.  You might take a 1 loss SEC team, but I think because of their overall body of work, they'd get a shot, and two one loss teams in the Championship game over a perennial undefeated team would be a shame this year.  BOL
