Waiting for the line to hit 7, then I am on the Dawgs.  Oklahoma St, with their great offense, went 1-4 against ranked opponents last year.

Also don't forget that "great" offense made it's living in the Big 12...

 

how is this too easy?  i love Okie St, but they posted a line 3 points higher than most people expected...

too many people burn themselves with this "it looks too easy" crap... at least understand which ones just look too easy, and the ones that actually are too easy...

UGA is arguably the single-most over-hyped team in CFB year in and year out, with a blind following that has no objectivity... that means the books KNOW they will always get UGA action... they could have made this line OSU (-3) and they would still get at least 50/50 action...

posting this big of a line is a very brazen move by the books... the people who should be thinking this "looks too easy" are the Georgia backers... i can't imagine they ever thought they would be catching this many points...

 

Exactly.  Georgia is crap at covering when they're laying points.  As a road dog, though, Mark Richt only has two ATS losses in his entire tenure at Georgia.  The first was in 2003 against eventual national champion LSU, and the second was in 2004 against an Auburn team that went undefeated but didn't get to play for the national title.  And there have been some very good teams since 2001 that Georgia has upset on the road as a dog.

So, unless one subscribes to the idea that Oklahoma State is a national-championship-caliber squad, I don't see how it's reasonable to view this game as anything other than a no-play or a play on Georgia.

And don't forget the last time Georgia started the season on the road against a team that was widely considered to be a vastly-improved, much-hyped contender for their conference championship.  At that time, Georgia went into the "other" Death Valley and rolled Clemson 30-0 in 2003.

I don't think we'll see that kind of beat-down, but it doesn't seem to me that history is on the side of the 'pokes.

Georgia and 6 points this is too easy. Georgia has recruited in the top 10 the last 5 years okst has been between 25 and 45. The fact that this game is on the road means nothing this stadium is not near the size of a regular sec game stadium. tenn and lsu are two of the worst places to play and ga has excellent records their. Coach Richt is 34-3 against non conference opponents.

That was 2 years ago, Pokes had a different Qb. Cowboys will hang 40+ on Georgia.....

Look at their non-conference schedule. I know they're in the SEC and they already play a ton of tough games, but how many of their non-conference opponents finished the year in the Top 20? All 3 of those L's were to GT. I don't see alot of value in that stat.

The level of freakin' genius in this thread amazes me. 

A:  For the record, the 3 non-conference losses suffered by Mark Richt teams were:

• 2001 Music City Bowl vs. Boston College, 16-20
• 2006 Sugar Bowl (2005 season) vs. W. Virginia, 35-38
• 2008 vs. Georgia Tech, 42-45

In both bowl games, Georgia overlooked the underrated, relatively unknown teams they were playing and got caught off-guard.  Last year, a defense that had been decimated by injuries absolutely fell apart in the 2nd half vs. Tech, like they had vs. Alabama and Florida before that. 

This year, the injured starters will be back on defense, and OSU is by no means underrated or unknown.  Nor is Georgia likely to be overlooking them.

B: I disagree, dawgfanatic. Georgia +6 is anything but too easy. This game will be a close, hard-fought game, and while an improved Georgia defense will keep UGA in the game, the question will be whether or not the much diminished offense will be able to score enough points to secure the win.

Ultimately, with the exception of his first year, all of Mark Richt's teams have shown an overwhelming penchant for pulling out "close games."  You could argue that winning a few close games is luck, but Richt and his coaches have figured out how to prepare their team in such a way that they regularly win the close ones.

That, combined with the fact that the OSU offense has been contained regularly by the better defenses they face, and Georgia will have the best defense they will face all year (other than Oklahoma & Texas), makes me think that Georgia will keep it close, and in a close game, I like the Dawgs to win.

i know you say ok st plays no def, but from what i see they held every team below there avg pts per game... i think that def will be hyped this year and knowing they have great off i bet ok st is in the run for a bowl game again

Richt 30-4 on road SU in his tenure and 7-2 ATS as Road Dog at Georgia...Guess which way I am leaning?

Oh, and one more thing... while those nonconference wins do include the Georgia Southern's and Troy State's of the world, they also include the following BCS conference teams: Georgia Tech (7 times), Clemson (twice), Arizona State, Virginia Tech, Colorado (although they suck), Wisconsin, Purdue, Florida State, Michigan State... and Oklahoma State.  In 2005, they also beat the same Boise State team that had undefeated regular seasons in 2004 and 2006, and had Ian Johnson and Jared Zabransky.

Yeah, that nonconference statistic is really a chump stat.
