I'm making predictions for every major conference and I'm going to start with the BIG 10.  In my opinion the winner of the BIG 10 is a two horse race with Penn St. and Ohio St.  After that there are a lot of question marks with the other teams in my opinion.  So here is my predicted order of finish with record.

1.  Penn St. 11-1/10-2
2.  Ohio St. 11-1/10-2/9-3
3.  Illinois 9-3/8-4
4.  Michigan St. 9-3/8-4
5.  Iowa 8-4/7-5
6.  Wisconsin 8-4/7-5
7.  Minnesota 6-6/5-7
8.  Northwestern 7-5/6-6
9.  Michigan 6-6/5-7
10. Purdue 5-7/4-8
11. Indiana 3-9/2-10

This is my prediction for the Big 10 this season with Penn St. getting the nod in the Rose Bowl.  Next up will be my predictions for the BIG 12.  Feedback anyone?

PURDUE 5 WINS?
PENN STATE 11-1?
MINNESOTA ONLY 6 WINS?

Purdue's 5 wins is the high end.  I think they will go 4-8 w/ wins over Toledo, NIU, Indiana, and Northwestern.  I don't see Minny winning more than the 6 games.  I think they could possibly get 7 but I don't know.  I have them beating Syracuse, Air Force Wisconsin Purdue Illinois and South Dakota State.  Loses Cal, @Nwestern, @ PSU @ OSU Michigan State and @ Iowa.

Penn St's toughest games this season will be @ Illinois and @ Michigan State and home vs the Buckeyes.  I just don't see anyone on this schedule that beats them.  I think they lose 1 or maybe 2 out of the 3 games I listed and win the rest.

Darkhorse of the conference is going to be Michigan State.  I think early this will show us what type of team the Spartans are.  CMU, @ NOTRE DAME and @ Wisconsin.  If they win 2 out of those 3 I could easily see MSU finishing 2nd or 3rd in the conference.  They don't play Ohio State and they have PSU at home.  @ Illinois @ Minnesota should be tougher games I have them winning 1 of those 2.  I think this MSU team is better than the one from last year.  The thing about this MSU team is I could see them going 10-2 but I could also see them finishing 8-4.

good to see you back whodey - agree looks like two team race, not much separating teams 3rd-9th Wisky, Mich St, Minn, NW, etc so that's a tough call until seeing a game or two...which is sort of cheating

I agree with you on both Michigan State and Purdue.

Mark Dantonio is a great coach but the Spartans just need to get that big win. And no I'm not talking about Notre Dame. I mean they need to not get blasted by Penn State or Ohio State when a lot is on the line. They have been a "nice" team, now it's time for them to take that next step. Could this be the year? We'll see.

I see Purdue as one of those programs that's been declining a little bit and is about to hit rock bottom this season with the Joe Tiller era finally coming to an end. They went 4-8 last year and I think this might be a program that's about to fall on hard times. It's just a feeling. We'll see how it plays out.

Nos - Yeah that would be cheating I'm really anxious to see the MSU/CMU game honestly.  Scouting them for week 3 when they get smacked by my Irish.

Triple Option - Thanks for stopping in, like what you had to say about MSU, honestly I think that winning @ ND would be a huge win, but my Irish are gonna be too good for the Spartans

But your right they do need to make a statement and beat PSU or Ohio St. to make a statement.  They have a good shot, only playing PSU last game of the season.  Should be a great year.  I'm excited.

Thanks. And what I meant by ND was they have beaten them so many times in a row now that we can't say that's a huge win for Michigan State this year. They can't go 9-4, beat ND, and get smashed by Penn State in the finale. We've seen that story. I think the Spartans need to take the next step under Dantonio. It will be interesting to see if they can reach the next level and challenge the Big 10 big boys. I'm looking forward to your other conference predictions. Take care.

I got Ohio S.T winning the Big Ten...

IMO Michigan S.T has to many problems on the Offensive line to be a Dark Horse.... Not To mention they lost there Starting QB and RB..

Whats going on Boom, yeah I almost had Ohio St winning it but I don't think they beat Penn St.  I don't know only time will tell I guess.  MSU did lose Ringer and Hoyer but were they huge losses, I guess losing the experience hurts but as we have seen some kids just jump right in and take over like nothing.  Offensive line I think has question marks to, that is one thing that scared me away.  I think early on there defense will keep them in a lot of games.

I think if MSU beats Notre Dame this season it would be huge win, previous to others like last when they were supposed to win.  This year is different MSU will probably be a decent underdog in that game.  As long as everything goes as planned.  So if they went there and won yeah it would be a huge win.

An early win against ND still doesn't put them in position to win a Big 10 title. My point about MSU is whenever it seems like they start getting talked about as a contender for the Big 10 title and are playing in a big conference game they have gotten killed the past couple of years. They lost by a combined 79 points to Penn State and Ohio State last year.

So  they are like that next team in the Big 10. They are good, they can beat Minnesota and Illinois, but can they beat the big boys when the pressure is on? That is what I meant. Can they get into the upper echelon of the conference or are they relegated to the Alamo/Outback Bowls forever? Beating ND for a fifth (Is it 5 or 6 now?) time in a row can only do so much for you. Christ, they have won in South Bend more times than Charlie Weis has the past couple of years. lol

I think losing Bobby Hoyer will actually help. I thought that guy was trash. Losing Javon Ringer will not help. That guy wasn't trash.

Iowa and MSU were gems last year. I was all over Iowa vs PSU last year. Im hoping one of those two can surprise the top dogs and do it quietly

Minnesota couldn't go 11-1 against high school teams.Obviously you are joking right? They will lose their 1st game at Cuse not to mention at penn state and ohio state and cal and iowa

the only team we really disagree on is Illinois ....I dont trust Ron Zook or the  Turnover Prone Juice Williams

I understand what your saying, but MSU has only won 2 in a row against my Irish.

I actually really like Zook, I think he is a good recruiter now as a football coach I think he is down a couple pegs but still legit.  Juice is very turnover prone.  I really think they are close to a boom or bust type team.  They have most of the tougher games at home, @ Ohio State, @ Minny @ Cincy only really tough road games.  I think they win 2 out of those 3.  I guess we will see, Arrelious Benn is a bad ass

I can certainly see this.   I think Penn State wins the Big 10.  As far as any Big 10 team winning a BCS game, I really doubt that.  The Big 10 is not real talented, and their non-con schedules really kill them when they have to go up against equal or better teams from other conferences. 

Does anyone really think that Minnesota is going to win the Big 10?  No offense, but that is so far out of the ballpark that it has cleared the apartment buildings on Wavely Avenue across from Wrigley Field in Chicago.

The Spartans have dominated the Irish the last decade. 9-3 I believe.  Dominance

Really? What am I thinking of then? Do they - or did they - have some kind of winning streak going in South Bend or something? I know they did something recently against ND because I heard about it on ESPN every two seconds after it happened. I know it's hard to believe that ESPN overkilled a story but they did. lol

Do you think if they called him by his real name, Isiah, he would even still be the starter? lol Maybe one of the most overrated players of my lifetime. Three huge games a year, five terrible games, and four average ones. Then everyone remembers the three huge ones. Luckily for him, one of those huge ones was against Ohio State because that made his life.

His other really huge game was last year against Michigan which helps, even though the Wolverines stunk. But if you look at his performance as a quarterback week by week, you can't win consistently playing that way. You may shock a Ohio State every now and then but more often than not you will struggle with the likes of Lou-Lafayette, Minnesota and Northwestern.

There was never a doubt in my mind that McGee should have been starting over him this entire time. I know few agree with me but I never got what people saw in this guy. He never developed as a passer. He's just slightly better than he was three years ago. We'll see what he does as a senior I guess.
