What seemed impossible a few weeks ago now seems very possible. Judging from the jump Florida made, and how little Texas went back, if these two teams win out they will both jump an undefeated Penn State team.(assuming a Texas Tech loss of course) I am a huge Joe Paterno fan, and I know he supports a playoff, but scheduling the likes Coastal Carolina, Syracuse, and Temple did him no favors. (especially a year in which the Big Ten has mostly average teams, excluding a few teams) You heard it here first.......

Here's my rankings. I base them on how I'd bet them straight up in a bowl game played on say the Fiesta Bowl, which is probably the most neutral field.
1) USC --- Best preparation team because of Pete Carroll. Great blitz strategy, plenty of talent.
2) Florida --- If they're playing for something, they are up for the challenge. If they're playing in a garbage game, they are less motivated.
3-6) Oklahoma, Okla State, Texas, Texas Tech --- These four teams are the same thing. Wide open style, any given Saturday. In a bowl game, they will be countered against #1 or #2.
7) Penn State --- Good backfield speed. Joe Pa one last time.
8) Who gives a shit about #8 and beyond.

I do think USC is in the top 2, I just don't believe they should get in the title game...very weak schedule, horrible year to be a BCS contender in the Pac 10 (even worse than the Big Ten)...Don't get me wrong, USC could beat any team in the country by two tds if they are on top of their game, but they just don't deserve it this year.....

I think schedule has to count for something, which is why I think you'll see Florida/Texas rather than USC...but if USC was playing anyone except Flordia, I'm betting USC till they tell me I can't!!! Florida at the top of their game would give USC a run for their money....

Jake, I imagine you are pullin for Bama this week vs LSU. Since the only chance Florida has of leaping over all these teams is beating an undefeated Bama team in sec championship game.
Bama is very overrated imo with their only quality win comin over GA. They barely squeeked out wins over Miss and a Kent team that UF roasted by 58. I'm an Sec fan here to tell ya its been a down year all around with only 2 teams in top 12. LSU, AUB, ARK and TENN all having tough seasons.
Only one team can come out of the south for the big 12 champ game to play Mizz. So we have to sit back and watch Ok, Tex, Tech and Ok St battle it out. I'd like to see Mizz play spoiler and make even more of a mess of this. Bringing the teams sitting out in the south back into the picture. Exactly how Mizz got the D last year. Missing the BCS to Kan after beating them to get into conf champ game.
Rambo, I'd love to see my team USC in the big game. Unfortunately, its not gonna happen. Your right by saying that noone prepares for a big game better than Carroll. Sc dropped 2 spots this week from 5 to 7 after winning 56-0. Since losing the heartbreaker to Ore st they have outscored their opp 224-20 in the last 5 games. We can go out there and try to score 100 a game. It doesn't matter, our hopes to make the big game are over due to soft strength of schedule.
At last, the little 10 and PSU. I understand they roasted Ore st. The team Sc was upset by. But they also barely squeeked out a win vs OSU. A team that SC ran right off the field. PSU will most likely go undefeated and miss the big game due to strength of schedule. Sorry Joe Pa, but the big game should be played between the Big 12 and the Sec end of story. . .
I would love to see a 6 team playoff implemented with the 1 and 2 seed sitting the first round. That would only take 4 games to get through. It would give teams like USC, UF and PSU a chance. Imo UF and USC are capable of beating and would be favored vs any team on neutral ground. Of course Joe Pa and PSU deserve a chance should they complete a perfect season.

BCS mess here we go. . .

Unfortunately, gonna have to listen to the whining from the big 12 (how well has their champion played in the bcs game the last few years) and the god-like sec (anyone checked out sagarin's conference ratings lately?) until January.
Hey, PSU must take of business, but it is disappointing that there are still respected guys like JWK who still do not recognize that PSU is clearly a different and superior big ten team this year, every bit as good as anyone in this discussion.
Now if they get knocked off, I will be back to eat crow, but this team is very focused and very talented and very much a team. They win by 3 td's saturday, at least.

That said, they still need help, just like it will never happen that a one loss team (let alone 2!!!) will knock psu out, psu will never jump TT or Alabama unless they lose.
In the meantime, it will be horribly fascinating watching the sec/big 12 crack heads writhe in agony.
Coillege football is the best game there is.

I wasn't trying to knock on PSU but If TT loses to Okie ST and OU beats them both then I don't see how OU doesn't jump PSU. Same goes for FLA if they beat the tigers in baton rouge and defeat an unbeaten Bama squad. PSU strength of schedule could become a thorn in their side. Two big "IFs" BTW but those 2 one loss teams could make it IMO.

the big eleven has fared even worse. just like how pathetic OSU looked in the title games and how USC blows out their big ten opponent every year int he rose bowl.
