Everyone knows how great the Cards have been this year, currently 41-22 in 1st place overall. They haven't been swept all year, a matter of fact they haven't even came close to being swept. Out of 20 series this year they have only lost 2 series (one of them being opening week). They've been doing it with a combination of pitching and hitting; somehow they keep developing these unreal pitchers and have guys like Adams and Descalso on the bench that would start on a lot of other teams. So I was thinking today why not start a chase system series by series with these guys. - Bet on them game 1 of the series, if they win stop until next series.
- If they lose game 1, double up game 2.
- If they happen to lose game 2, triple up on game 3.
- I don't think this will ever happen, but if it's a 4 game series and they loose the 1st 3 games..quadruple up on game 4.
With my luck they'll get swept by the Mets this week haha but seriously I think this could be a nice way to make some relatively safe cash.
If anyone disagrees and thinks this is dumb, please let me know why..
Go Cards! Lets make some paper

@ Trec: Not quite desperation, I took a small hit last couple weeks so just trying to make some easier money. Thought this would be a good idea so well see.
@subpar: Yeah man Cards are really solid. I know the profit might not be a crazy amount but its sure as hell better than being down.
Also as you could see im starting with small wagers to see how this works out.

Just took another look at the Cards results thus far. Thinking it might be smarter to take the Run Line instead of the Money Line. Just because of the risk. And the Cards have covered the Run Line at least once in every series this year besides one (a 2 game series vs the Cubs).
Sticking with the ML for the Mets series, however this weekend's series vs Miami will be trying out the Run Line.
GL to everyone

You think betting game 1's only is the advantage? Wouldn't betting all their games be better since they've only lost 2 series all year. So statistically/historically, we can't lose.

Debating on taking the RL or ML tomorrow @ Miami. Leaning towards the ML just because it's Westbrook's first start in over a month..plus Fernandez is pitching for the Marlins so I'm thinking the juice won't be too much on St. Louis. We'll see tomorrow..

Andd the Cardinals win another series..

Terrible call on the Rays, I shouldn't of touched the game..the stats on Santana in Tampa Bay just really had be convinced he'd get bombed and clearly he didn't and the Royals decided to put an 8 spot up in the 6th.
Whatever, back to the topic, as Jcole once said. Cardinals opening up a new series with league worst the Miami Marlins. I knew the juice wouldn't be too high, being @ Miami with their best pitcher on the mound vs Westbook making his first start off the DL. Last I saw the line was actually dropping, which kind of sketches me out. But I am going to stick to plan and ride with the Red Birds.

I'm with you again bud. I might do a parlay stl ml/Over. If you see, JF vs good teams, 14 ER in 19 innings. But faced my mets 3 times with only 3 ERs. He's had all but 2 games with more FB than GBs.

Yeah that parlay doesn't seem bad. I like that stat on JF. We'll see what he's made of vs the Cards lineup. I just hope Westbrook isn't rusty coming off the DL

was there any research put into this system, or was it just thought up while stoned one night?
2012: Cardinals were swept 4 times
2011: Cardinals were swept 5 times
2010: Cardinals were swept 5 times
Even the 2001 Mariners who went 116-46 during the regular season were swept by the A's. Betting that a MLB team won't get swept during the regular season is not a smart play, imo.
game one lay (-140) 140/100, lose.
game two lay (-140) 336/240 , lose.
game three lay (-140) 806/576, lose.
You just lost $1,282 trying to win 100, and god hope this isn't a 4 game series because now you're laying (-140) 1934/1382 and could be down $3,216 just trying to win $100
I used what I thought was a fairly even price to pay for STL through the year, some times it may be even higher as it was when they got swept at home by the Astros in 2010 (-321, -178, -235)

Very very solid points. And I obviously put that into consideration when thinking about this. I did look it up and saw even the 2001 Mariners got swept and so on. But if you look the 2011 Phillies weren't swept all season until September 22nd, after they clinched the division and started playing bench players.
I honestly think this Cardinals team is comparable to a late 90's Yankee squad. They have a lineup that really works counts and works pitchers. Their starting pitching is nasty 1-5, even young guys like Joe Kelly, Wacha, Lyons are nasty. Their bullpen is unreal, Motte went down and Mujica took over and like 16/16 on save attempts and has Rosenthal behind him who might even be better.
I'm just saying maybe they will get swept this year but I am going to play this out. Especially, against teams like the Mets, Marlins, Cubs, etc..
