Yea that was brutal. I was on Milwaukee and I feel very fortunate. It was near impossible for the ump to see from his position. There was no way that anyone could see that from the Philly dugout or they would have went ballastic. Heck i dont think even Kendrick realized it. Great job Segura selling that he had the ball the whole time.

i say combine football and hockey. give each coach one challenge like a football game and have somebody in new york or wherever watching all the games and handling reviews like in hockey. you get an answer in seconds.
personally i think baseball umps are the best of all the sports. first off they play 162 games so just by human nature and odds they have the most opportunities to fk up. but they are rigth 95% of the time on these bang bang plays. i find pretty incredible. they slow these replays down on stolen bases and plays at first and still cant tell if the fkin guy is safe or out. like that play just now you cant see every angle. its just impossible.

and thats keeping the auto reviews they way they are. give the coach one or two challenges on top of it.
i know the problem will be time of game. my answer to that is make the freakin batter stay in the box and stop adjusting his nuts and battting gloves every pitch.

I am basically a purist and hate too much replay. The NFL blows a lot of replay calls. The NBA can't get it right either with the out of bounds calls. The NHL and the goal calls works. However I am a realist and I realize the momentum and desire for replay is great and can accept and embrace it. I am with you on a combination of a hockey/nfl type system. I would have all plays at the plate and home runs automatically reviewed by a guy in New York. That would be my ultimate dream job. I would then give each manager one challenge each for calls on the bases and fair/foul balls and fan interference or balls leaving the playing the field and coming back onto the field. If they are right they can keep getting another challenge, if they are wrong then they are done with challenges. This will keep them from getting crazy with challenges and only challenge if they are darn well sure it was a blown call.

Yeah they just showed the replay on tv...
Umpire was in what you'd call a Normal position to view the play.
Just a FLUKE play where the ball came out and the 2nd baseman DUPED the Ump into thinking he had the ball the whole time!!
Human Error... But replay for that??
I can't see that warranting it??
Heck A's Game in Cleveland a few weeks ago.
Went to Replay and they Still Called it Wrong?
So go figure??

im not saying they should have replay all of a sudden because of that play bayarea im talking in general. that was a game changer for philly. man on 2nd with i forget if it was none or 1 out down by 1. if you had a challenge a ump walks to a phone and a guy tells him he dropped the ball he s safe. t hat would take a whole 2 min. and literally 2 min thats about how long hockey reviews take. so why not? there is never usually more then 1 bad game changing call during a game that why i say one challenge. its not going to slow the game and save it for something important in the late innign that can determine a win or loss

Put the replay challenges in the hands of the managers. Everything other than balls and strikes are reviewable. 1-2 challenges per game. If you're right, you get one more but never to exceed 2 per game. The umpires can only call for replay from the 9th inning on. The important thing is to let the umpires do their job and leave challenges in the hands of the managers.

Yeah, when the Umpiring crew Blew that A's HR in Cleveland in the top of the 9th I believe it was?? I really Questioned the Whole Replay Protocol?? If Replay of any Sort were to be Implemented??
Then maybe an OFF the Field Review Crew would have to be in place? But then when would they intervene? Andif so... it should be for All CLOSE plays??
SF Giants had 2 Blown Calls by the Home Plate ump a few days ago as well.... And "He was the Man" for that game??
A Slide between the Catchers legs at Home Plate for an Out and an advancing runner to third... In both instances the Home Ump had the wrong view and made the wrong call.... Replay would of Overturned those two plays as well.....
So Commissioner Selig??
What Say You??
