Playing on the lowly Marlins +1.5 (-110) at home against the Phillies.
Phils won in grand style yesterday on a walk-off home run to hand the hot Reds a series loss. The Phillies were down 2-0 in the 8th...but if you didn't see the scoreboard... you would have thought the Phillies were celebrating a 10 run comeback.
On a bittersweet note, the Phillies lost their MVP (in my mind) catcher Carls Ruiz as well as Ryan Howard (the publics MVP.) Neither of these players was on the team flight to Miami and were waiting for MRI results.
The above is not good for a Phillies team that is really struggling to score and get good pitching. The Phillies have a single A minor league bullpen right now and a horrible starting rotation. Papelbon is a god closer, but they haven't really had a chance to use as him as the starting pitchers + bullpen for the Phils are struggling to get save situations.
To make matters worse for Philly, Cole Hammels has already publicly blamed (earlier in the season) the catchers for a good chunk of his bad starts (when Ruiz was serving his suspension.) Looks like Cole is going to have to get over this mental hurdle as he will be without Ruiz tonight.
So add up the Phillies hangover, flight to Florida, No Ruiz, No Howard, No Hitting, Hammels mental case & no bullpen, we have a good fading opportunity.
So, I know what your thinking...why would I play FLA?
Well, your not taking them to win, your taking them +1.5 against a team that can't score and can't stop anyone.
The Phillies are a hot ticket everywhere, so the Marlins will be up for this one with a larger then usual crowd. The Marlins actually split a 4 game set in Philly a few weeks ago. So they now that they are capable of beating the Phils.
Although he has a terrible WHIP (1.76,) Marlins starting pitcher Alex Sanabia has been flat dealing against the Phillies line-up. Rollins, Kratz, Utley and D Young (all in the Phils line-up tonight) are are a combine 0 for 15 against him.
Though battling some injuries of their own, the Marlins starting line-up tonight has an OBP of almost .400 ON THE AVERAGE vs. Hammels!!!! Including 5 different Marlins wh have hit homers against Cole (3 players have hit multiple home run games.)
Tonight playing on the Marlins +1.5!!!
Good Luck!
