Looking at this game it's hard to say it, but it's become apparent that Roy Halladay is turning 36 in a month and going back to the end of last year he has an ERA over 10.00 over his last 5 games, lasted a total of 21 innings, and given up 7 long balls.
Matt Harvey for the Mets has shut down Philladelphia in his very short career giving up 3 runs in 13 innings.striking out 13 and giving up 1 long ball. In his 10 major league outings he has given up more than 2 earned runs 2x's. Phillies bullpen is over used and POOR in this short little start to the season, but with Halladay not going long into games anymore, this may be a huge issue.
Phillies are 7-1 in Halladay's last 8 starts against the Mets, but 0-1 last year and I just don't think this is the same guy that dominated over the years.....we all get old, and I may be wrong, but we are seeing the end of a great career.

have to agree with everything u said.. Doc's logged so many innings yr after yr and its just natural for the velocity to go down and he tries to overdue it and force stuff and whinds up leaving alot of balls up in the zone that get smashed.
bullpen blows, Valdes-Durbin are brutal to watch..

Philly Fan......good to hear from a Philly fan as I was really just looking at stats and you see them every day.
As a Cubs fan, I've learned to bet with my head and not my heart...hard thing to do though so I just typically stay away from the Cubs as I do love money, but hate making it off the backs of my suck behind favorite team.

Halladay is the perfect example of why it is foolish to give a contract to a pitcher of more than 5 or 6 years at most. anything upwards of 10 years is stupid, because there are very few pitchers in history that have kept their worth for that long of a time period. Halladay is making a ton of money and may not even stay in the rotation through June. Usually when this happens a team will fake an injury so they don't have to look so bad for demoting someone like him. Don't be surprised when they say he has somethin wrong with his arm and put him on the 60 day DL .
